Mors About the Dobato:
Comrade J. 8. Tatman, of Chickasha,
writes that the Hamitton-i>odd debate
at that place was a huge joke so far as
Dodd was concerned. His ranting* had
a great of foot in loosening the prejud
ices that had previously existed against
the Socialists in that city. The com
radea feel well repaid for their efforts
in promoting the debate and feel that
Dodd's exhibition of utter ignorance
~of Socialiam was funnier than a vaude
-ville number.
Comrade Oles Stofer writes aa fol
lows of the Ilamilton-Dodd debate at
Snyder;—
The Hamilton-Dodd debate is a thing
of the past with us. I have heard many
debates but I have never seen one who
was so little able to handle his side of
the case as is Dodd. His long suit is to
erack jokes and to roast his audiences
with no attempt to answer his oppon
ont. Many non-socialists tave told me
that they were disgusted with Dodd
and that Comrade Hamilton acted as
a perfect gentleman. On both nights
we had a orowded house. The debate
was held ia (rar new hall w-ich is the
property of local Socialists. This hall
is being fitted up as a permanent home
for tho local.
t The >uan who acted as moderator for
Dodd at the debate at Lindsay has seen
the light and has declared his intention
of becoming n Socialist.
Hamilton-Dodd Debates.
The most' glowing reports come to
this office from comrades over the
state concerning tho Ilamilton-Dodd
debates. At Lindsay, Dodd had as mo-
derator of the discussion, a minister of
his own church. The next day his min
ister was not present so Elder Dodd
selected as his moderator, another
Christian minister. Our repwrts now say
that both these ministers are now
Socialists and that they do uot hesitate
to declare themselves. One of tho cur-
ioug anomalities of the
ment in the southwest is that the
church of Christ is furnishing more
preai'hers to fi},'ht Socialism than any
other ehuroh and that in consequence
of this, more preachers of that church
are coming to that from any other.
A number of the strongest speakers in
our'movement are ministers of that
'••hureh, true soldiers of the cross and
real followers of the Carpenter of Na-
y.iireth, men like Al. Hopkins, Robert
Allen and muVy others.
Comrade Hamilton has named as his
other dates the following:— Ardmore,
Ada, Stradford, Tecumseh. Dodd has
never yet named any of the ten places
which under tho terms of the agree-
ment h(> was to select. Tt is generally
believed that he is playing for a chance
to quit, and that he will seize upon any
prefe.vt to do so. Comrades through-
out the State, particularity in the
Southwest are warned to be on the al-
trt. If a debate is announced by Dodd's
friends, wire nt once to Geo Gilbert
Hamilton, 120 W. Locust street, Okla-
homa City, Okla. It is uot at all unlike-
ly that some of these debates will bo
advertised without due notice being
given Comrade Ilnmilton. A few tricks
have been attempted already by the
opposition but none have succeeded,
thanks to our red card organization.
Austin. He bids $7.50—nearly fourj
times its valuation.
Why Mr. Young offer so much
more than the state listed the land ? I
Because he saw several bids for
this section and thought it of
value and he would make a few I
hundreds without work.
This is not a rare case for I am I
informed that this is not the firstl
time Mr. Young has been awarded
land and when he can't sell it hej
lets it go back to the state.
Now the way Mr. Speculator
lias of knowing what piece of land
is in demand is by the date on the
outside of the envelope contain-
ing the bid. You are requested to
mark your envelope thus: Bid on
Sec. No. 4 (or as the case is). Now
if you want a fair deal don't put
any information on outside of en-
velope but just say "bid on land)
on sale (date) etc.
There is no reason why we can 't I
have a home if we can get rid of J
these speculators.
The above named land is Sect. 4,|

WATCH THEM BUILD THE R. U.
Knox Co., Tex., Oct. 25, 1913.
To The Rebel:—
I want to say just a few words in
belmlf of the people up here in old
Knox eounty. I find lots of Socialists
up here and they are Socialists. Thanks
to the Creator that there has come a
time when the people will come out
bold and let the rnaste* class know
which side they are on but I find some
llenry Dubbs up here that have been
taught that we have had to have bosses
to attend to our business and us fel-
lows do the work and they sure have
done a good job of it. You can cee
working men every day going to the
banks to borrow money. Why, is it
u* working devils never have a dollar
when we create everything? May our
Lord and Savior bless every effort you
all make in trying to free the workinc

On with the fight until every man

Editor The Kobe),
Dear Sir:—
Ah yeu have invited Tho Rebel read-1
ers to discuss topics of whiskey traffic!
just let me say it is the great curse of!
our nation today and every one
knows it. If everybodv c.iuld see it
and feel it like the poor drunkard's
wife and little children it would #< up
in smoke in 30 minutes, and there could
not be found enough of intoxicating
liquors in the United States to drown
rat. Talk about the prohibition pnr-
or the Democratic or Republican
parties doing anything, no they have
been tried and there i3 more whiskey
now than ever before. They say we
have to have money to run our govern
ment, wo have to have revenue. Then
ut out the whiskey and let these men
pay revenue that drink the whiskey and
they will have clear heads and when he
balances up his accounts at tlio end of
the year he will find ho has u dividend
and surplus. Some men have paid rev-
enue and profit to the amount of twen-
ty or fifty thousand dollnrs -in a life
time. Let him cut it, out and 1 will
help pay the revenue if Uncle Sam
can't get along without it. Then we
will havo clear heads and a pure ket-
tle and al our faculty brought into
equal use, we can act rightfully on all
given subjects.
Now then not that any one man pays
any more tax than another, but inder
the present system he is paying out his
living in liquor tax. With no home,
rent land and raise cotton and keep hit-
little children out of school, Oh, Km*<
Cotton! Education second. Oh, you
law makers, be just to your country, to
your families and to your brothers rnd
don't trample God's law under >our
foot for you are your brother's keeper,
Oh, you Reverend preacher, My down
prejudice and preach what Chri t would
if He was in your place and act li'-c
he would if He was in your place. Pr.t
tect the mothers for they bring np tho
rhdng generation, then make it possible
for her. I am heartily in five of an
amendment to the United Stntes Con-
stitution for the annihilation of the
whiskey traffic.
If The Rebel will give space in the
future, I would like to express views
on cotton marketing and education. \tfe
