We like the way prepara-
tions have gotten underway
for Jamboree. With the
celebration just two months
away, committee chairmen
can't let grass grow under
their feet, although they
haven't been able to do much
about the mud lately.
Newest confirmation of
events is that we will have
the second annual Barbecue
Cookoff. According to Boots
Carsidona, Smithville's own
champion barbecue cook and
chairman of the event,
it will be held at the VFW
grounds on Saturday, April
16, and he anticipates a
large turnout this year.

he preached his first sermon
as their new pastor. He has
been at First Baptist for 5Vi
years.
Sims was not only deeply
involved in the church and
its activities but in civic
activities as well. The
Sims family will be missed
by the whole community.
Corinthians. This Bible
passage was read by min-

led the wedding prayer.
Miss Neala Stacy, organ-

Just Begun," "If," and
other musical selections as
the guests arrived. Mrs.
Becky Hodges began the
ceremony, singing "The
Lord's Prayer," a capeila.
The bride and groom
came down the aisle to the
melodv and words of "Color
My World."
For her wedding, the bride

VISIT THE LIBRARY -- "The Friends of the Library" hosted an open house at the Smith-
ville Library Saturday afternoon, in an effort to better acquaint new residents and interested
persons in the local library. The open house also served to kick off the "Friends" member-
ship drive and gave present members an opportunity to re-up their membership. Anyone
interested in joining the group, which assists the iibrary by raising funds to purchase
extras, should stop by the library and talk to librarians Linnet Shade or Maureen Malina.
