Eat. Drink. Shop. Repeat:
Taste of Dallas Celebrates 25th Year
Hot chefs, cool facilities make Taste of Dallas
a culinary event for the whole family
"Eat. Drink. Shop. Repeat." Taste of Dallas
returns to Fair Park this year with a robust blow-out
to commemorate its 25th year. As the largest tasting
event in DFW, Taste of Dallas is set to draw 150,000
hungry tasters in its three-day run at Fair Park July
8-10. Attendees should prepare their palates for a
weekend of culinary delights from Dallas' top chefs
and most popular restaurants. Fantastic music,
plenty for the kids to do, and lots to shop, eat and
see make for a great weekend.
"Taste of Dallas is thrilled to return to Fair Park,"
said Scott Farace, general manager of Taste of
Dallas. "The variety of facilities, air-conditioned
space and beautiful esplanade that this area offers
is unparalleled. It's easy to find, and participants
have plenty of parking - not to mention easy access
to the DART's Green Line, which stops at the front
door of Fair Park. Taste of Dallas focuses on the
foodie experience, and what Fair Park offers helps
us make that a reality."
In the heart of Dallas, Fair Park offers a chance for
participants to enjoy the hot chefs and cool facilities,
with more than 150,000 square feet of indoor space.
There is no better way than Taste of Dallas to try
foodie fare from more than 50 of Dallas' best
restaurants: with no entree more than $3,
participants have the opportunity to savor plenty of
different tastes without breaking the bank. Sample
the best from Fedora, Blue Goose, Aw Shucks,
Sullivan's Steakhouse, Texas Land & Cattle, Afghan
Grill, Fletcher's Corny Dogs, Texas de Brazil, Nuevo
Leone, Woodfire by Kirby's, and much more.
Top chefs from the North Texas area, including
Jason Boso of Twisted Root and Cowboy Chow,
Chase Cheatham of TJ's Seafood Market, Daniel
Nemec of Woodfire by Kirby's, Thomas Holt of
Sullivan's Steakhouse and John Franke of Whiskey
Cake and The Ranch will be an important part of the
culinary experience via exciting demonstrations and
complimentary sampling from their exclusive
restaurants. Beer, wine and liquor tastings (adults
only) also make for a complete meal and uber-foodie
experience.
Taste of Dallas satisfies the appetites of all ages.
In addition to the tasting opportunities, Taste of
Dallas offers a slice of life in Dallas. From as-yet-
undiscovered artists to sports stars, interactive
sponsor experiences, cartoon characters and rides
for the kids, to culinary artisans selling kitchenware
and products like handmade olive oils, there is
always something to learn, see, experience and do
around every corner at Taste of Dallas.
"Food is life, and everything revolves around it,"
Farace said. "We have a robust weekend of activities
that every member of the family will enjoy."
Nothing goes better with good food than great
music and entertainment. Friday night, the Gilley's
Main Stage will feature Inner City All Stars and Petty
Theft and other fun Dallas bands, while Saturday will
showcase some of Texas' top talent, including the
King Bucks, The Will Callers, Ronnie Fauss,
Menkena, and the Spazmatics. Sunday will include
Joe King and TJ Broschoff.
In addition to fantastic music, new this year is the
Taste of Talent at the 25th Annual Taste of Dallas,
which will showcase the best in North Texas' own
singers, dancers and other performers. The top 10
as determined from an online voting competition will
perform at Taste of Dallas for the chance to win cash
and prizes.
Pint-sized foodies will relish Kids' Taste Town,
which has something for children of all ages. They
can come face-to-face with their favorite cartoon
characters, see zoo animals, make their own art and
pottery (sure to be worthy of front-and-center
placement on mom's refrigerator or mantle!), and
even don their own chef's hat to give cooking a
chance in the kid-friendly cooking demo area. From
kid-friendly entertainment on the Kids' Taste Town
stage to petting zoos, bounce houses, giant slides
and midway rides, Taste of Dallas has a weekend's
worth of delights for little ones.
To savor the flavor of Taste of Dallas after the
event is over, attendees can visit the Taste Culinary
Marketplace and take home some of the ingredients
for their next great meal. From cookware to cutlery,
handmade olive oils to jellies and jams, salsas to
sauces, attendees will find unique, handmade
products that you can't find on every supermarket
shelf.
Taste of Dallas continues to support the work of
the American Heart Association, which is Taste of
Dallas' official non-profit partner. American Heart
Association will offer free screenings, entertainment
and heart-healthy education at the event.
"The American Heart Association has been a
phenomenal partner for Taste of Dallas," noted
Farace, "by bringing an educational and entertaining
experience to attendees of the event. Everyone
leaves with some new knowledge that can change
their life, and we are proud to partner with them to
make that happen at this event."
The 25th Annual Taste of Dallas is Friday through
Sunday, July 8-10, in Dallas' Fair Park. Parking is
available for purchase in Fair Park, or attendees can
ride the DART Green Line, which stops at the front
entrance to the event. Hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Friday,
