1991 Blue and White Scholarship by
the Alpha Pi Zeta Chapter of Zeta
Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Amid the
blue and white decorations and
stunning ball gowns, the soros
mingled with family members,
friends, their fraternal brothers, Beta
Beta Sigma Chapter, Phi Beta Sigma
Fraternity, the Amicae, Friends of
Zeta, and members from otherGreek
organizations as they all enjoyed an
evening of dining, dancing and fun.
Delightful, entertaining music
furnished by Blue Mist of Austin,
Texac Jewell Hill was named
Woman of the Year in recognition
for her.outstanding service to Alpha
Pi Zeta as Basileus from 1987 to
1990. Other awards were presented
to Minerva Bumcy for Outstanding
ServiceTowards Membership Intake
and in keeping with the traditional
standards of the sorority in supporting
the continued education of our youth,
two scholarships were presented to
local students: Danielle Abelbey of
Brackenridge High and Edward
Hurton , Highlands High School.
The chairperson for this extravagant
affair was Wynell Mann, and Doris
Ellison is Alpha Pi Zeta Chapter'
Basileus.
The 33rd Ebony Fashion Fair was another smashing success headed by Mrs.
Katie Jones, chairperson for this very spccial event sponored by St. Philip's
Episcopal Church. Pictured above are some of the guests who attended the
Sunday afteroon affair at Laurie Auditorium. Photo by Wallace
Government Girls have
raised over $20,000 for
cancer research
The Government Girl's Club will
sponsor its annual benefit tea to
support cancer research Sunday,
April 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Ft Sam
Houston N.C.O. Club.
The tea will feature a hat show by
Julian Gold, musical selections, and
food.
The Government Girl's Club has
held the benefit annually since 1975,
and more than $20,000 has been
raised and donated to the Alamo
Unit, American Cancer Society.
