Miss Vaughn and the production

It was revealed last week that Miss
Vaughn already has come to terms
with the Columbia recording cor-
poration to wax for that label Im-
mediately following the termina-
tion of her contract with Muslcraft.
As a matter of fact. Miss Vaughn
recently cut six sides for Columbia
but release of these records has lieen
forestalled pending the outcome of
the singing star's suit against Musi-
craft . . . Illinois Jacquet, the re-
nowned "Dynamo of the Saxo-
phone," will be feted In a triumph-
ant homecoming In Houston when
he brings his high-flying aextet to
tlu* auditorium for a one-nlgbt stand
on April 21. Tills appearance will
highlight a series of one-night dance
dates In his Initial tour of the lone
star .itate of Texas, which also will
Include stops In Kl Paso. Fort
Worth, Dallas, Han Antonio, Tyler
and several other key cities, Jac-
quet was born In Houston and start-
ed his meteoric musical career by
forming his own dance band at
Houston's Wheat ley high school and
subsequently Joined Milton I.arkin's
band. Krentually he journeyed to
California to win nation-wide fame as

ton's crew . . . Buddy Johnson's
first try at this tiling called "bop"
Is heard on his latest Decca offer-
ing "Fullamo," which was penned

chorus. On the flip-over, Buddy
presents the romantic rolee of Ar-
