Lorrain Harrison was hostess to I 1 members in her
beautiful 335 Como St. home. Mrs. Harrison preeted
■r guests in a pale blue and silver pant suit.
The spacious den had a cocktail table vinhchips,
nuts, dips and goodies. Our president, Mrs. Wifma
Hunter opened -the business hour. New business was
• also discussed for our annual affair, plans for' Stay
At Home Tea."
We wish to thank all for your help. April will close
the Stay at Home Tea Party.
The wet bar was opened for cocktails after the
business meeting ended and the fun was ready to
begin.
There was plenty of food with ham, chicken and all
kinds of goodies, covering the entire table. '
Mrs. Grace Hill will be our next hostess.
Husband and dates were special guests.
Local Delta President, Mrs. John Etta Slaughter,
is joined by new Delta Neophytes during reception
at Coronation.

recently, as the San
Antonio Alumnae Chapter
of Delta Si^rna Theta
Sorority, Inc. held the
coronation for the "1989
Delta Queen of Hearts"
and her Court.
After prelude music,
provided by Soror Doloris •
Williams, Soror Wanda
Moody introduced the
Royal Court of Jazz
while Soror Ruth A.
Burns, accompanied by
guitarist Leonard
Willrich, provided the
background music.
Presented first was Her
Gracious ■ • Majesty, '
JaCarol of the House of
Armstrong, Duchess for
the Court of Jazz
escorted by Jeffrey
Mathis. Duchess JaCarol
is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jackie
Armstrong; is a 17 year
old student at Sam
Houston High School
where she holds
membership in the San
Antonio Youth Literacy
Program, Vjsual
Impression, Xino's Who's
Who, Big Brothers/Big
Sisters and the Black
Professional Womens
Club. She is also involved
in the history of drama
groups. She is a member
of the West End Baptist
Church and lists track,
speaking, modeling as
part of her interest.
Duchess JaCarol plans
to attend the University
of Texas at San Antonio
or Texas Southern
University and major in
social work or
psychology.

hobbies.

capacity audience at the
Carver spellbound, as
crown bearer Christopher
Mitchell preceded her
down the asile. Her
Majesty's trainbearers
were Syretta Landy and
Tanecha Webb. The
Queen was escorted by
Andre Webber. Queen
Greta is the daughter of
Mrs. Linda Johnson and is
a junior at Sam Houston
High School where she is
active in the Science
Club, Fellow Christian
Athletics, the Drama
Club, Black Professional
Women and Visual
Impressions. Her hobbies
are reading and writing
short stores, plays and
poetry. She is a member
of the West End Baptist
Church where she is
treasurer of the Youth
for Christ., She plans to
attends UTSA or the
University of Houston
where she will major in
business management and
marketing.
The Queen was crowned
by the 1988 Delta Queen
of Hearts, Alice Rochelle
Kennedy who was
escorted by Bryan
Thomas. A musical
tribute to the Court was
rendered by Soror
Lemelle Taylor.
A brief reception ws
held in honor of the
Court and immediately
prior to the Jazz
Extravaganza which
featured T-Bow Gonzales,
Eddie Wolford and Luvine
Ellias and • others and
starred jazz violist,
Michael Ward presenting
"Music of a Lifetime."
Ward, a native of San
Antonio, put on a
spectular performance
and was joined during his,
show by his mother, Mrs.
Carol Ward, who /esides
in .San Antonip.

School.

University.
