it is not important that we win every
event in the Olympics. It is important
that we compete with the best coaches
and the beSt (^equipment. If you
think we arc embarrassed now, just
think how our country will feel when
our pro team loses, and that has to
happen. If not this year, then some
other years bccause it will happen.

What do 1 possess in Christ?
Last week we discussed those areas
that aChristian must confess (or say)
about "Who They Arc In Christ", in
order to change their self image and
attitude.
Just as important as knowing who
you are in Christ, a Christian should
also know what they have or possess
in Christ. Remember, it was Jesus
- who said," I am come that they
might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly." (John
10:10).
For a number of years, I was in a
quandary because the "abundant life"
had eluded me, or seemed not to be
for me. So I started making the usual
exc uses..... "11' s because I'm B lack,"
or "I was raised on the wrong side of
the tracks." The ironic thing about it
was that the other people lived on the
other side of the tracks, loo! Just to
make a long story short, I came to the
realization the main reason why our
Caucasian brothers didn't allow us
to read during slavery .was so we
couldn'tread the Bible for ourselves.
Proverbs 4:22 says, "For they (the
words) arc life to all who find them
(the words), and health to all their
flesh."
It is very amazing that now in the
twentieth century where Blacks as
well as anyone have the ability to
read whenever they choose and
whatever they choose, and we still
find time noi to read the Bible.
After you read this segment, it is
my desire that you begin to riscabovc
your circumstances the same way 1
took authority over mine. You do
not have to be a preachcr to live in
victory!
What do I posses in Christ? That is
a good question. Take this for an
example. If you are hired to work at
a job, the employer usually sets upan
orientation to briefly inform you of
the benefits that are yours bccause
you are employed by them. After the
orientation, you are given an
Employee Handbook. (If you don't
have one, I strongly suggest you
inquire about it).
In this handbook is written, in
detail, all the benefits that are yours.
Basically, we lay the book down
somewhere and probably don't look
at it again until we just happened to
find it while cleaning up or when we
need some specific information.
Literally, many people do not know
all the benefits that are theirs bccause
they don't take the time to find them
out .'the handbook is too thick, or
I can't understand all the jargon that
are used'....which means that you
will or have probably paid out
hundreds of dollars unnecessarily,
and all you had to do was read and
study your benefit handbook.
God's word is the same way. If
you arc born again, you arc an
employee of the Most High God. All
saints are basically ministers (don't
get carricd away with this term), or
workers for the Kingdom of God.
Therefore, all the benefits that are
from the Kingdom are written in the
Bible. And we are literally missing
out on some great benefits that arc
ours because we have not exercised
our privilege to read and study them.
This understanding changed every
circumstance in my life. Knowing
what belongs to mc or what 1 possess
in Christ. I no longer have to live by
the excuse, "I don't have anything
because I am Black."
First, because I know who I am in
Christ (the righteousness of God) I
have access to the throne of God.
Therefore, I can go boldly, not
haughtily, and ask my Father for
what I want. (Hebrews 4:16). He
said 'come boldly',not whimpering,
scratching, begging, and crying. I do
that simply because He said it, and I
am to expect what He said He would
do. God has never fallen short of His
promises, therefore, I stand on His
Word.
Secondly, I have authority over the
devil. Colossians says we have been
"delivered from the power of
darkness." If I'm delivered, then I
am not under Satan's rulership. I
John 4:4 tells me that "greater is He
that is in me,than he that is in the
world." I believe that, and I
appropriate that authority and
command theadversary to stay back.
Ephcsians 4:27 says, "Neither give
place to the devil", which means I
have a place that the devil wants and
he can't occupy it until I give it up.
That means lhat too many Christians
arc giving up their place to the wicked
one bccausc they don't know they
have authority to keep it. Therefore,
saying "the devil made me do it" is
not true. He can only suggest and
coerce, but you arc the one in control
and who has the power. However,
having power and not knowing how
to use it is just as bad as not having
any power at all.
Find every scripture that deals with
what Jesus said is yours, and start
saying it to yourself over and over
again until it gets down inside of
you. Start taking authority over your
life because Jesus died that you may
have "life and have it more
abundantly."
Another important element you
possess is health. Yes, I mean
healing. You possess healing. This
area needs to be cleared up through
God's Word. However, you will
have to wait until the next issue. I
wouldn't miss it if I were you. I was
paralyzed from head to toe until I got
the healing issue straight, and I
haven't been sick for more than
twenty years. Until next time.
What about all we have been told
about 'it's not whether you win or
lose, but how you play the game?'
This country of ours is so
embarrassed because we did not win
the gold medal in basketball. This is
the very same country that will not
support our athletes, and has their
training determined by the amount
of donations. Are they trying to tell
me that becausc we did not bring
horge the gold that every college
athlete that competed is not a winner?
Any fool knows that it was just a
matter of time before the other
countries caught up with us. Not
only that, but other countries arc
allowed to have a certain number of
Americans on their team. Sowhatis
to happen now with our 'win at all
costs' attitude? We are allowing our
pros to go into the Olympics. If you
open it up for basketball, you must
do the same for hockey, baseball,
and other sports.
The greatest reward a college
player can have is to represent his or
- her country in the Olympics. Now
we're going to take that away from
them.
