Living in
Pastor Taul'Bunttjn
Believer, God's spoken word. Last
time I was led to talk to you about the
"keys" Jesus left for us to use. I also
said that it is your responsibility to
learn what the "keys" are and learn
how to put them to use. Keep in
mind that God said in Hosea 4:6 that
"My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge." I would go on further
to say that Christians are being
destroyed and not living
"abundantly" due to spiritual
ignorance on how to use the "Keys to
the Kingdom."
Before we get to the "keys", we
must understand some basic
foundations about Old and New
Testament promises or covenants
God made with us. If we Fail to
recognize these, then telling yoti
about the "keys" will not amount to
much. I want to encourage you to
not let these next issues skip your
hands because what is about to be
disclosed could be the very thing
you need to hear.
The Healing covenant in the Old
Testament should be reviewed. The
dictionary defines a covenant, as "a
binding and solemn agreement made
by two or more individuals." The
Biblical meaningofacovcnant would
be promises made by God to man. A
legal contract, oral or written, is
always enforceable by law and only
broken at great cost to the party
breaking jt.
Let us search His Word concerning
a physical healin'g pact made with
His people, just one of the many
contracts made by Him.
Did God truly make such a
contract? 1 believe that is a good
question. Don't you? If He ever did
make an agreement to be Israel's
healer (a healer of their sicknesses
and diseases) did He ever break 1t? If
He made such a physical healing
covenant, did He make it only with
Israel in the Old Testament, or did
that healing covenant pass on to us?
Was it ever acted upon by the two
parties involved? Is it for us today, or
was it just meant for them?
Let us go back to God's first
physical healing covenant with Israel.
Exodus 15:26. (Find it and read it).
From this text, you should begin to
see that He will always be the Lord
God (Jehovah-rapha) who heals
them. He is notone who makes them
sick,as so many theologians teach us
today. We seem to have this thought
that God causes sickness so as to
teach us a lesson.
Further confirming this healing
agreement is Exodus 23:25, (read
this). Notice that God's promises
are based on something we humans
do; hearkening to His voice and
keeping His commandments. In
Exodus He says that all a person
needs to do to receive His blessing is
to worship Him.
This is what we should be doing all
thetime. ThatistoworshipthcLord.
Not only because of what He has
done for us but also because of who
He is. Some of us only can worship
on Sunday and only for 2 hours at
that. Unfortunately, some services
today arc morning, afternoon, or
evening programs. That is not
worshiping the Lord.
What a wonderful promise to us.
Serve Him, worship Him, and He
covenants to do His part, that is, to
keep sickness away from us. Did
God do this for His people of Israel?
Y es, for hundreds of years they lived
and walked under this perfect
agreement.
Read Psalm 105:37, you will find
that it says not a "feeble person were
among the tribes." Deuteronomy
29:5 tells us that for forty years, their
clothes and shoes did not "waxen
old." What a covenant!! What a
God!l
What we need to ask ourselves is
did God's promise of healing stop
and were only for Israel? Read Psalm
103:1-4. Share this with yourChurch
family and your own family and
discuss what it means. There are
three things God hates. Sin, poverty,
and sickness. You must understand
that King Asa (2 Chronicles 16:12-
13) died before his time because he
did not seek God first.
What does this mean for us today?
You will have to wait for the next
issue or ask your Pastor. Until next
time, Live in Victory!!
