PERENNIAL BEEFING . . .
Back in the B. R. days (before rationing^ we thought
it was a comparatively simple procedure to jump into
Jo's number fives, and push the pen around a bit, and
enlighten her readers about all >hc week's happenings
while she enjoyed a summer eold, even if the Jottings
were of an inferior brand. Hut, no such luck, now.
There are few parties, fewer dances, visitors stay away,
and we can't walk, and we have long since abandoned
everything but going to work and home. Our readers
will bear with us until next week. I'm sure.
JO'S JOTTIJJGS
CARNIVAL . .
The carnival for service men, given by the Health
Education committee of the Y.W.C.A., with Mrs. W.
V. Hurd as chairman, was all that was expected. With
such attractive prizes as War bonds, War stamps, free
long distance call, soldier kits, furlough bags, and
other items that fill a soldier's twenty-four hours, the
soldiers vied with each otiier for high places in the
quiz contest and games. Local clubs, firms, sororities,
ami individuals helped in many ways to add to the fun.

EASTER FINERY . . .
The clothing department of St. Philip's junior collegc
is busy as a beehive with the fashion operetta scheduled
for Easier Monday night at Library auditorium. . . .
They will give fascinating facts about the clothes yoil
art- wearing, and the origin of styles, fashions by the
dozen to hetp yon face the summer on and off the job.
One scene will give the birth of styles, the original and
the modern interpretation of that style. Styles will
