Minority businesses offer 'many benefits
to community' says agency head
Corporation of Rockville, Maryland.
"One way to begin is to change the
perception Americans have of
minority owned and disadvantaged
businesses," Smith said. The
commission is recommending that
the terminology used in describing
such businesses be changed to
'historically underutilized
businesses.' This creates a positive
and constructive perception of
minorities in business. It is time to
recognize the many benefits derived
from this segment of the business
community."
