The monthly social of the Ala-
thean class of the First Baptist
church was held at the home of
their teacher, Mrs. A. J. Tippit,
Wednesday afternoon, with Mrs.
Tippit and Mrs. Lynn I'ate us co-
hoetesaes.
Mrs. Doug Newcotnb led the de-
votional and Mrs. R. C. Harris
(rave several readings. Mrs. Tippit
conducted a Bible quiz after which
cake and home made ice cream
were served.

Fronie Claused went to Waco
Saturday to attend the commence-
ment esercises at Baylor Univers-
ity. She was accompanied by
Judge and Mrs. M. S. Long of
La^tland, whose daughter, Emilie
Long, received her B. A. degree
and her Texas permanent high
school certificate.
There were 536 graduate*, the
largest by 139 of any graduating
dass in the history of the 103-
year-old university. They received
their degrees Monday morning at
the commencement exercises at
9:60 o'clock. Dr. Jim Dan Hill,
president of the State Teachers
College at Superior, Wise., a Bay-
lor graduate of 1922, delivered the
commencement address. Rev. Kyle
M. Yates, pastor of Second Hapti^'
church, Houston, delivered the bac-
calaureate sermon Sunday at 11 a.
m. In Waco hall.

Mrs. Bruce Bray during the Me-
morial Day week-end were Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Reynolds and son,
Jack. Jr., of San Antonio, and Dick

day Mrs. Claude Howell and
daughters, Mickey Howell and
Claudia Howell, of Abilene visited
in Albany.

Wadene CIoum, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Floyd Clouse, was
graduated from Wood row Wilson
high school in Dallas May 27.
Wadene is the granddaughter of
Mrs. Ada McLemore, formerly of
Albany. She was valedictorian of
a class of S82. Besides having the
highest grades in the class, she won
first prise for city and state for an
essay in the Colonial Dames con-
test, $25.00 first prise far an es-
say on salesmanship, and was the
representative of Woodrow in the
Interscholastic League spelling
contest. Shd has received a four-
year Line pin, Everts award, two
Bible awards, and membership in
the National Honor 8ociety be-
cause of her good scholarship.
During her senior year she was
on the student council and worked
in the school business office. In
addition, she has had seven years
study in piano and three years
study in voice. Last year during
summer vacation, Wadene worked
in the art department of the Dal-
las Times Herald. She plans to
enter the University of Texas in
