Mother Nature sent a little rain
during last weekend's two man
low ball golf tournament, but that
did not stop the enthusiasm of 80
golfers participating in the event.
Forty teams in ail competed in
the tournament, and the team of
Rocky Hill and Buford Salters
walked away with first place in
the championship flight.
Their scores of 63 and 64, for a
two day total of 127 was good
enough for the overall win.
Following Sunday's action, two
teams, Bobby Rust and Bennie
Nichols, and Jimmy Walsworth
and Mike Harrison, were tied for
second place.
The teams then played a sud
deri death playoff, with Rust and
Nichols winning on the second
hole. Thus, Walsworth and Har
rison finished third in the charn
pionship flight.
In the first flight, Steve
Williamson and David Bales shot
a 74 and a 69 for a winning total of
143. They were followed by Jim
Cotter and Jack Carlile with a 74
and 70 for 144.
In third place, Gene Gray and
James Shelton finished with a 145
after shooting a 74 on Saturday,
and 71 on Sunday.
The second flight saw Rufus
Wilson and Berry Wilson of
Throckmorton finish first with a
77 and 72 for a 149.
Two teams tied for second
place, but after the playoff, the
team of Gift Wood and Dan Wood
placed second with a 79 and 71 for
150. Randy Black and Dale Carrey
were third with a 76 and 74— 150.
The team of Doug Bennett and
Mike Parsons finished in the top
spot in the third flight with scores
of 82 and 79, for 161.
James Weathers and Larry
Hass were close behind with a
two day total of 162 — 83 and 79.
Two teams tied for third place,
Glen Bartee and Colton Johnson,
who fired a 83 and an 82 for 165,
and Bobby Moore and Randy Hud
son, who shot 82 and 83 for a 165.
Bartee and Johnson were
declared the winners, however,
following the sudden death
playoff.
During Saturday's action, Mike
Harrison had the longest drive on
hole number two. In the closest to
the pin contest, Steve Williamson
won with a drive which landed on
ly 11 inches from the hole.
