will spend his 80-day furlough here

Kinder.
Pfc. Scott had been overseas

Fire badly damaged the John

Mr. and Mrs. K. J. McCormick
received a call Saturday from their
son, T-4 F. J. McCormick, Jr.,
from Tampa, Fla., announcing he
had just arrived in the States from
Europe and would be home in two
weeks.
Sergeant McCormick -erveil in
the 117th Signal Kadio Intellience
unit oversea- for 211 months. He
went into Tunisia, then was at
Naples-Foggia, Home-Arno, and
then went into southern France,
(iermany and Central Europe. He

the southern France invasion, ha
the good conduct medal, and ETO
ribbon with -ix battle star-. In-
cidentally, Sergeant McCormick

ported mi -ing n action over
northern France since April 20,

now reports he was killed on that
date.
Lieutenant Engli-h was a navi-
gator on a BIT based in England,
the hip being a squadron leader
in the -th Air Force. He went
cvei'seas in January, last year, and
held the Air Medal with clusters
and had completed at least seven
raids over Berlin at the time of his
death.
He wa born in Albany, where
his father was county clerk for
a number of years. Attending
school for awhile here, he moved
with his parents to Moran, where
John D. was graduated from the
Moran high school. He attended
John Tarleton College at Steph-
enville and Hardin-Siinmons Uni-
versity at Abilene, where he als«
was employed as assistant circula-
t on manager of the Abilene Re-
port cr New .
Entering the service in June,
IP 12, he received his wings and
commission a- a navigator at Hon-
do Army Air Base Feb. IS, 1943,
and wa- married the next day. Hi#
wife Iive- in Houston.
