ma, David and Daniel Mitchell,
Travis Sears, Max Fierce and
Chuck Roeser.
Fincher Home
The attractive home of Mr. and
Mrs. Mike Fincher, near Fort Grif-
fin, was the setting for a meeting
of the Sallie Matthews- Missionary
Circle of the Presbyterian church
Monday afternoon. Cactus, Texas
plumes and other wild flowers be-
decked the rooms.
The members drove out at three
and sewed for an hour preceding
the missionary lesson, which was
led by Mrs. Ray Wylie Theme of
the program was "The Obesrvance
of the 75th Anniversary of the
Founding of the Presbyterian
Woman's Mission Hoard."
Mrs. Wylie gave the devotional
talk on "Celebrating an Anniver-
sary and Looking Toward the Task
Ahead," and other part* were giv-
en as follows: Mrs. Lorena Pistole,
"Happy Birthday to You"; Hallie
Virk Faster, "A Link With the
Past;" Mrs. J. A. Owen, "Unite
With Us in Prayer," and Mrs. Nel-
son Palm, "Let's Celebrate In
1945."
The hostess served sandwiches,
cake and Iced tea.

Following the commencement
program, members of the senior
class, teachers, a few upper class-
men and friends were invited to
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Wood, where their son, John Wal-
ter Wood, was host for a lawn
party, honoring members of his
class.
Badminton, table tennis and
other games were played, and
dancing was enjoyed.
The host, assisted by his par-
ents, served punch and cookies to
about 75 guests.
Seniors Honored
By Mrs. Hay Key
Honoring her brother, John Sed-
wick, and other memhers of the
Albany High School graduating
class of '45, Mrs. Kay F. Key en-
tertained witth a formal dance at
the American Legion hall .from 9
to 12 Saturday night.
Guests were received in the re-
ception hall, where maroon and
white, Albany High School colors,
were featured in decorations. Ma-
roon and white streamers formed
the canopy and diplomas, tied with
maroon satin ribbon, were in front
of bouquets of white snapdragons
on the piano. Arrangements of
spirea decorated the dining room,
where the refreshment table, over-
laid with maroon, was centered
with a miniature graduate in cap
and gown, and diplomas beside
graduating caps on simulated
heads were at each end.
Mrs. Key, who was wearing a
summer dinner dress of yellow
pique with corsage of yellow stiap- _ _
dragons tied with white satin lib- (evening the whole group will meet
with the American Legion Auxili-
ary at the Legion hall.

Girls Reorganized
Camp Fire Girls of Albany
Chapter No. 1 have re-organiied
and now have twenty-four mem-
bers from 12 to 14 years of age,
who are working faithfully.
We are very proud of the two
new guardians, Maxine Palm and
Mae Ilelle Morris, and soon hope
to have an assistant, Mary Adams.
The girls enjoy working under
their new guardians and we have
great hopes for the coming year
in Camp Fire.
We have still another group,
Group No. Two, who are 10 and
11 years of age and eleven in
number.
Mrs. Alice Stockdale, executive
secretary of Camp Kire Girls for
West Texas Area, Is to be In Al-
bany Wednesday, June 6th, to
talk with the girls about attending
camp at Lueders, and other phases
of the work. She will talk with
Group No. Two (the younger
group) at ten o'clock in the morn-
ing; and to Group No. One (the
older group) at three o'clock in
the afternoon. Mothers of the
girls are invited to both meetings.
At 5:50 in the afternoon there will
be a picnic at the water plant for
both groups and vesper service w ill
be at sundown, with Rev. J. A.
Owen officiating. At K:H0 in the

Formal Party Given
at Legion Hall
Mary and Janie Spencer enter-
tained with a formal party at the
legion hall Wednesday evening.
The hall was decorated with
many low hanging streamers and
festoons of crepe paper in pastel
colors, and bouquets of larkspur
and azaleamums, which made a
colorful setting for the young
guests in their pretty formats.
Mrs. A. G. Dement directed
games of rummy, "42," caroms
and other indoor games. Dancing
to music of the nickelodeon was
enjoyed.
Refreshments of punch and
cookies were served from a long
I table centered with honey, tickle
Camp Fire borne. We especially
want to thank Graham Webb and
the Hoy Scouts. It was they who
have made it possible for us to
have a new Camp Kire home.
Many nice donations of money,
furniture for club house, and work
have been made by Albany people
and Camp Fire Girls. Those mak-
ing donations are: W. (5. Webb,
C. M. Reese, J. L. Hooker, Mrs.
C. C. White, Mrs. John Grothe,
Mrs. W. (>. Weathers, Mrs. George
Sazama, Mrs. Blanche Wylie, Mrs.
Joe Dodson, Stephen Tlardware,
John Walter Wood, J. L. Hart and
the individual Camp Fire Girls.

J. R. (Ryland) Gleaton, serving
his second year as adjutant of Ver-
non P. Hart Post, American Le-
gion, Stamford, is being offered by
his buddies as a candidate for com-
mander of the 17th District to be
elected at the Conference in
Breckenridge June IB and 17.
Gleaton, who holds a medical
discharge from the Navy in the
present war, has proven himself to
be aggressive, a good organizer
and a membership getter of no
mean ability.
Gleaton is in a position to give
plenty of time to the commander's
job, and bis buddies in Vernon D.
Hart Post are confident that under
his leadership the 17th District will
continue to be the best district in
the Department of Texas.
Mrs. Kmmett Hammack return-
ed last week from u two weeks'
visit with Private Hammack's sis-
ters in Tulsa, Ok!a., and his par-
ents in Southwest City Mo.

Farnestine Meador, who has
been a student in NTSTC, Denton,
the past year, came home Thurs-
day for a 10 days' visit before
returning for the summer session.
