Without a personal knowledge
of Jesus Christ, without entering
into a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ as Lord, you cannot
be saved, you cannot be a Chris
tian. At least, that is what Jesus
and the Scriptures teach. You
cannot know the joy and excite
ment of the Christian life, what it
is like to be in the living presence
of Almighty God, what it is like to
live in personal fellowship with
God. You cannot know what it is
to experience Christ as Lord, to
live with Him as Lord, to serve
Him as Lord, to live for Christ, to
live with Christ.
You cannot know the Hope
which pulses through your being
and makes your heart throb and
your spirit leap for joy —a glor
ious Hope which spurs you on-
ward through life's valleys to
greater spiritual heights, a Hope
which spurs you onward to climb
those rugged mountainous
obstacles in life knowing that
each one will bring you closer to
God, a Hope that spurs you on in
your spiritual pilgrimage through
this foreign and hostile land to be
welcomed to your eternal home
by your heavenly Father with
great joy and celebration.
If you do not know Christ per
sonally. you simply do not know
what Christianity is all about.
Christianity is not simply know
ing about Christ and believing
things about Christ. It is knowing
Christ personally. It is not enough
to know and believe what the Bi
ble teaches or what the church
says is true. What the Bible
teaches and what the church says
is true must be true in your per
sonal life and experience. Only a
personal experience of God, a per
sonal relationship with Christ can
make a Christian. Anything less
is less than Christian faith —
religious perhaps, but not Chris
tian.
If you do not know Christ per
sonally —you simply do not know
what Christianity is all about.
You cannot understand why
someone would live for Christ,
commit his life to Christ, would
want to spend his life in service to
Christ and growing closer to his
Savior. You cannot understand
why someone loves to talk about
God more than anything else, why
someone loves to share Christ and
His love with others more than
anything else. To you they seern
like fanatics, people who have let
their "religion" get out of control,
who have taken their "religion"
too far and lost all perspective on
life. They make you feel uncom
fortable. But, have you ever
thought that perhaps that dis
comfort, that uneasiness was the
Holy Spirit nudging you? The Ho
ly Spirit trying to make you un
comfortable with the present
state of your life so that you
would change, open your heart
more to God. and move closer to
God?
Instead, how many people
resist the Spirit's prodding and
run away from whoever it is that
is making them feel uncomfort
able— and in effect are running
away from God? Then they gather
together with those whom they
feel "comfortable" (their fellow
runners and avoiders of God) and
justify to each other why they
ran. They rationalize away their
running, and generally assure
each other that they are good
religious people and that it is this
fanatic who has the problem.
How sad that so many run from
God, run away from a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ as
Lord. How sad that so many run,
hide and take comfort in the com
pany of darkness —in the com
pany of their fellow runners and
avoiders of God —thinking that
because they find others who will
hide and agree with them in the
dark that God must agree with
them too. How sad so many run
and hide in their rationalizations
and their comparisons of them
selves with others-as if God
does not set His own standards,
but whatever they came up with
was fine with Him.
Card of thanks
To Our Dearest Friends:
We owe a great deal of
gratitude to the warmest, most
wonderful people in the world —
"Our Friends." You have touched
our hearts and lives in many ways
since my accident, during my
hospital stay and since coming
home. We appreciate with all our
hearts the help financially, the
gifts of food, flowers, cards, in
quiries, phone calls, visits in the
home and at the hospital, to those
that got everything fixed just
right for me to come home and be
comfortable, and all other acts of
kindness and love. Let's take time
to thank my two ambulance
drivers and all the doctors and
nurses at Hendrick Medical
Center who performed their
duties with the utmost of profes
sionalism and love. Thanks to Bro.
Lamb and Bro. Conner for the
prayers that made all our hearts
and souls stronger than ever.
Thanks to our Lord for another
chance to enjoy this beautiful life
with which we all share. It is truly
wonderful to know that you have
such great friends that you can
count on in times of such need.
Thanks to the First National
Bank and the Moran National
Bank for all their help and under
standing. To each and every one
of you, we would like to say
"Thank You," and we wish you all
our love and the happiest new
year you could ever have. Our
friends are truly wonderful peo
pie.
Thanks forever, Kerry

SEEDS FROM
THE SOWER
By Michael A. Guido. Metter. Georgia
The young boxer had
been slated to fight the
champ, but he held back.
"Slugger," said his
manager, "just keep saying
over and over. I'm gonna
lick 'em!' "
"That's no good," replied
the boxer, "because I know
what an awful liar I am."
I believe in success. Not
because of who I am. but
Whose I am and Whom I
serve.
With the Lord enlight-
ening the mind, encour-
aging the heart, and e-
quipping the body there is
help for today and hope for
tomorrow.
Self-sufficiency is fan-
tasv. God-sufficiencv is
reality. Self-confidence is
good. God-confidence is
better. Self-reliance is a
virtue, but God-reliance is
victory.
God is a winner. He has
never planned a failure. Give
Him an invitation to take
over in your life, and He
will give you the inspiration
to prepare pnverfully,
proceed positively, and
pursue persistently.
