The Boy and Girl.
Do you know what your boy
does? What kind of language he
uses? What games he plays?
What he talks about? Where he
goes? With whom he associates
and many other things secretly
engaged in? Where was your
girl last night? Where the night
before? At whose house was she
visiting? Who accompanied her
home? What influence is being
used by her associates to mould
her future character? Are the
people of this town and country
thinking of the welfare of their
children? There are boys in this
town and country whose parents
think them beyond reproach and
who will engage in diabolical
deeds and use language that
would almost make the hair of
Satan himself stand on end, yet
the parents will not believe them
anything but pure, honest and
upright. There, are influences
being throwed around some girls
in the town that, will destroy
their womanhood. Why in the
name of all that is right will not
people strive for something bet-
ter for their boys and girls and
not let them go wild, unprotected
and uncared for. Ex.
Good men and bad men have
advocated and opposed every is-
sue that has ever been before the
people and every candidate that
has ever sought office. Demo-
crats who have always been true
and Democrats who have side-
stepped are on both sides of the
great issue that is now giving
the people of Texas concern, and
neither side can establish claim
to all the good men or good Dem-
ocrats, neither can either side
truthfully assert that all the bad
men or unfaithful Democrats are
in the camp of the opposition; to
attempt to do so is a confession
of a lack of argument. It is no
argument against Senator Bailey
to say the editor of a leading
Bailey organ once supported a
Republican candidate for Con-
gress. or that one of his promi-
nent supporters in Houston once
made the race for Congress on
the Populist ticket, neither is it
any argument for him that Bill
Crawford once supported a Re-
publican candidate, or that Cy-
clone Davis was the great Pop-
ulist oracle a few years back.
Meet every issue upon its own
merits and let your best judg-
ment guide you to a verdict.—
