Marching season winds down
with Cougar band appearing in the
Neiman Marcus Adolphus Children's
parade in downtown Dallas on Sat-
urday. The parade, which is usually
televised on Channel 8, starts at
10:00 a.m.. Families planning to at-
tend the parade are are urged to ar-
rive downtown early enough to find
a good viewing spot. Carry a blan-
ket or lawn chair for comfort and
don't forget to cheer as Cougar Band
marches by! For more information
about the parade, please call the 24
hour parade hotline at (214) 640-
8383.
The Colony Christmas parade on
Sunday afternoon signifies the close
of Cougar Band's marching season.
For those parents who have not taken
photo advantage of Cougar Band in
their marching uniforms; load the
cameras and camcorders with film!
Sunday is the last chance for snap-
shots because uniform turn-in takes
place in the band hall immediately
after the parade. Please remind your
student to bring all components of
their marching uniforms (including
jacket, trousers, hat, hat box, gold
baldric, silver baldric, gauntlets, gar-
Rhonda
Groce
ment bag and brown-wooden pre-
numbered hanger). Jan Hellstrand,
our booster club seamstress needs 8
(eight) parent volunteers to assist with
the uniform processing. Please call
Jan at 625-9188.

Band dance held to raise money
It's time again for another dance
at TCHS making it the third one of
the semester.
This dance is going to be spon-
sored by The Colony Band Booster
Club in order to raise money for the
band's Spring trip to Colorado in
April. Pat Roberts is head of the
fundraising committee for the Band
Booster Club. She has been working
hard to raise enough money to send
300+ students to Colorado and hopes
that the turn out at the dance will be
as good as Homecoming.
About two months ago was the an-
nual Homecoming dance which at-
tracted many people. One reason was
because of the great music. TCHS
students can again look forward to
hearing all their favorite songs be-
cause the same D.J. will be returning
for the band dance.
I personally enjoy going to the
school dances. It's an excellent
chance to meet people you don't
see during school and spend time
jamming with close friends.
So come on down to TCHS this
Saturday the 5th and support The
Colony band while you dance all
through the night. Tickets are only
$7.50 per person and the dance lasts
from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. I hope to see
you there!

It's been an exciting couple of
weeks at Lakeview. We've finally
started the next sports season, which
is basketball. Back on the 20th there
was a school wide blackout that was
a fun way to end the week. We did
however, face the consequences on
the following Monday in that most
of the clocks in the school were
wrong, which was confusing.
And then of course there was Tur-
key Day Break. Five glorious days,
Jana
Ross
Lakeview Middle
School
the most time we've had away from
school all year. Schools great and ev-
erything (ha) but I'm sure we're all
looking forward to the 17 days of
freedom in the Winter Holidays
Break.
