Vote for the Road Bond Issues, Tues., Nov. 2
ON Tuesday, Nov. 2. property owners in Road Districts 3 and
4 can help make a better, safer, more progressive San An-
tonio by voting for the road district bond issues.
Approval of the bond issues in these districts is necessary
to buy rights-of-way to complete the uneoustructed portions in
the countv-wide Expressway system, and to construct new farm
to-inarket roads.
Although total costs of the projects arc $18,fifi4,5O0. the
Mate is paying $15,234..">00 of this amount. Thus the two dis-
tricts have only a total of $3,430,000 to contribute.
If the bond issues do not carry, and the county does not
purchase the necessary rights-of-way, the state will spend this
more than $15,000,000 ill some other Texas city, that is willing
1o pav its share for progress and development. DL'T San An-
toniaus will still continue to pay state taxes, without receiving
any benefits from the State Highway department.
Voting for the bonds will mean only a very slight increase
in taxes, an increase of less than 10 cents per $100 assessed
valuation.
Completion of the work already started in the county
lApri'sswav system, will rvlieve the county's almost.intolerable
traffic congestion, and thus will cut dowu accidents, reduce the
■wear and tear on vehicles, save lives, gasoline, time, to say
nothing of the wear and tear on nerves.
Approval of the bond issues will give San Antonio and
Bexar county the very best high-speed highway system in the
entire state.
Along with better roads, drainage conditions will be im-
proved, a> the state will construct storm sewers and eliminate
drainage problems in conjunction with the highway construc-
tion.
Another item of importance is the fact that property in
the vicinity of expressways actually increases in Value with the
buildinir of the roads.
Yi.tius; FOR the bond issues, Tuesday, is a vote for prog-
ress, improvement, development.
