their contribution to race progress at last week's public meeting, held
during the tenth national convention of the United Beauty School Owners
and Teachers association and Alpha Chi Pi Omega sorority and frater-
nity.

funeral of her mother, Mrs. Callie
Dees, in Ilallettsville, Texas, last
week. While here, en route, they

and Mrs. E. A. Ramsey.
Mrs. Broadnax is the former Mil-
dred V. Dees, of this city.

time resident of this city; and of
Dallas. Texas and Las Vegas, Ne-
vada is leaving for Houston, Texas,

uate of the local public schools, and

high school of Dallas. He is
the son of Kev. J .L. Wallace of this
city, and Mrs. Pearl Moore of Dal-

COMMUNITY CLUB
The Corona Village Community
club held a tea, sponsored by the
general president, Mrs. Lilly Mae
Jones, at the home of Mrs. L. Mc-
Kinney Dixon, 302 Segura street,
I Sunday afternoon.
The proceeds from the tea will
be donated to the Cancer fund. Mrs.
Eliza Wilson president of the Jes-
se street club has pledged her club's
support to the Cancer drive. Plans
are that the club will raise $15.

JUST NEIGHBORS
CLUB
The Just Neighbors club met
with Miss Cleo Bell, 220 North Mes-
quite street. Sunday afternoon.
April 24. with most of the members
present. The hostess served deli-
cious refreshments. Eleven new
members have been added to the
roll of the club. The next meeting
will be held with Mrs. Annie Thom-
as. 211 North Mesquite street.

GUILD
The Centre Street guild met in
the home of Mrs. M. J. Holmes, 124
Giblis street, with Mrs. Celestlne
Taylor and Mrs. Brown as hostess-
es. Mrs. Fay Allen, vice president,
was in charge. Following devotion-
al services by the chaplain. Mrs. G.
Johnson, an important business ses-
sion was held. Sunshine was sent
to shut-in members and a neighbor,
M. Pullum, who is very ill. The
hostesses served a delicious repast.
The next meeting will be at 113
Gibbs street, with Mrs. Ida Diuiry
as hostess. Tuesday, May 3.

The Original Loyal 13 Social club
met with Mrs. Alberta Smith as
hostess. The president was in charge
of a short but interesting business
session.
A message of condolence was sent
to Mrs. P. L. Roberts and family,
at the deatli of a loved one in
Brownwood, Texas.
A social hour was enjoyed with
games played and prizes awarded.
Two first prizes went to Mrs. Katie
Stewart and Mrs. Odell Braggs;
second prize to Mrs. Daisy Lee
Barnes: guests prizes to Mesdames
Mary Ellen Petison, Signora Jen-
kins and Dorothy Graham.
