Cancer Fund Drive
Diminishing Coffees

The cancer fund drive of the Ameri-
can Cancer sisuety starts Sunday,
April I. and the local affiliate, the
Alamo Cancer Aid society, will open
the drive month with a series of
diminishing mffecs throughout the
cit>.
The organization has. over the
years. Iw»en able to make substantial
donations to the American Cancer
society from the pns'eeds of the
coffees, and from the general public.
This annual campaign of the Alamo
Cancer Aid »*s'iely provides an ojrpor-
tunlty for all to do something con-
crete alNiut cancer, to Strike back at
a disease that threatens everyone.
Financial sup|»ort for this cause is
• btaimil from the public through this
annual *'auipaigu held in April, and
which has been set aside by an act of
cotigrc** and a proclamation by the
President of the 1'llited Stat«*s, as
Cancer Fund Drive month.

had the unique privilege to visit
Highlands high school along with two
administrators. The students were
Norma Ibty Harris and Samuel Cy-
phers. The occasion was the whool's

dent of St. Philip's and San Antonio
colleges, Dr W. P. Mood>.
Representatives were present from
numerous collides throughout Texas.

regular meeting in the home of Mrs.
Kosie I^s* Daniels. After a timely de-
votion. the president, Mrs. D. J.
Mancy, took charge of an interesting
business session. Plans were discuswd
for the improvement of the guild by

An enjoyable social hour was held,
after which the hosts. Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Daniels, served a delicious re-
past.
Mrs. Alice Mills, 711 Centre street,
will be hostess for the next meeting,
