Hoodlumism Not Confined to One Corner
FROM the public reaction to an editorial appearing
in this column, last week, concerning the deplor-
able conduct of students at a certain downtown bus
stop, it is indicated that many, many citizens have
been suffering in silence.
Callers have said that the Alamo plaza anH TT ,s-
ton street corner is not the only place where -tuoent
conduct has reached an all-time low. It is just as em-
barrassing and repulsive, on buses, in the streets,
public places—and city-wide.
The urgency of corrective action becomes more
imperative.
We believe that some of the organized youth
groups should take an interest—and manifest deep
concern—in the actions of those who are causing all
youth to be castieated as rude, boisterous undisci-
plined young hoodlums.
Certair.lv youth of good breeding, training, and
hopes for the* future should take steps to protect their
good name.
San Antonio to Hear Nejrro College Choirs Program
IT was announced, this week, by Radio Station KA-
PE that, for the first time, beginning Sunday, April
1, the "Negro College Choirs" program will be broad-
cast in San Antonio. An ABC network feature, the
series will be heard each Sunday morning through 1
the facilities of KATE, as a public service feature,
from 9.30 to 9:55.
The liisi few wetka of liie 111 uativa&ls will sei *e
as a trial period. Whether or not KAFE will continue
to carry this unsponsored program will depend on
public response to the program.
To many, many listeners, these programs will
have a special appeal, and they will want them 40
continue.
KAPE will have to know the public's reaction.
Register suggests that those who do enjoy these
choirs, and would like to continue hearing them,
let their reaction be known to the station.
A card or letter to KAPE, 608 East Travis, San
Antonio 5, or a telephone call to CApitol 3-3877, set-
ting forth their desires, would do it.
That is the only way the station will know how
well the program is being received. And that will de-
termine whether or not the series will continue.
