PHILADELPHIA —Art Dorrlng-
ton, Negro skating star of the Phil-
adelphia Ramblers hockey team,
was honored last Thursday evening
prior to being Inducted Into serv-
ice.
Dorrlngton, who Is 26, left the
next day for Atlantic City where
he received orders, but not before
lie chalked up the Ramblers' lone
two points In a 0-2 setback at the
handB of the New Haveu Blades.
Art,\who saw limited nctlon on

game only five times but more tlinn
made his presence known. While
his many fans screnmed in delight,
the yonng forward shot two goals.
Prior to the game, Art was hon-
ored by his teammates and a num-
ber of friends. He received many
gifts.
Dorrlngton, a Canadian citizen
by birth, took up residence in Pleas-
antullle, N. J., in the summer of
1954, making him eligible for the
American draft.
At the time of his departure, he
led the team 111 goals, 82, and to-
tal points, 59. His 27 assist* "Were
only four short of Rocky Bukavina's
first place high.
Coach Chirp Brenchley admitted
that Dorrlngton will be "sadly
missed.'' The Bainblera are current-
ly engaged In a ditch drive In the
Eastern Hockey league, and BrenCh-
ley hoped his top scorer would at
least be around for the closing three
games against top opposition.
Dorrlngton has two brothers and
four sisters. He married an At-
lantic City school teacher, Nov. 22,
1901. They expect a child In June.
