Kleberg school will open Monday,
September 16. The local school
board, in cooperation with the coun-
ty health department is requiring
that all children be vaccinated for
small pox and be given the diph-
theria serum. All beginners will be
required to bring a birth certificate
to school.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Shults were
dinner gnests of Mr. and Mrs. Prultt
Sunday and attended church at Fort
Worth in the afternoon.
R. L. Shults, Archie Goddis and
Virgil Sewell attended the 4-H
Club encampment at Lake Worth
last week.

cle, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ridgell of
Longview.

80th birthday Wednesday, August
28. Mrs. Breen lives on Route 2,
with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Henson and
daughter, Doris.
Mrs. Ed F. Vanston left Wednes-
day, 4:30 p.m. on American Airlines
for Big Spring. She returned Thurs-
day accompanied by Walter Hailey,
Jr., who has been visiting Mrs. W.
B. Hailey.
Mrs. S. H. Whitehurst reports
that their son, Lt. Carson White-
hurst has classes from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. daily, with 2 hours of study
at night, at the Infantry school in
Fort Bend, Georgia. He is very hap-
py in his work.
Mrs. Addie Wiseman visited
Terrell last week-end.

The new Five Point Baptist
Church had seventy-four in Sunday
School. Sunday School begins at
9:45. They study the Bible only.
Everyone is invited to attend. It is
an old fashioned country church
for plain christian people.

Willis Hheyburn, nephew of Wil-
lis Nolan, has a job in the Poultry
husbandry department of A&M Col-
lege, where he will attend school
this year. Out of 1500 applicants
for 300 jobs, young Rheyburn was
one of the lucky 300. He graduated
from Mesquite HigTt this year.
Mrs. Forrest E. Roberts and son,
Forrest Earle, of Carthage and
Miss Kathryn Roberts of Terrell Vis-
ited Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Cook Sun-
day evening. Miss oJsephine Terry
returned home with Mrs. Roberts
for a visit, with Mrs. J. S. Neal and
family in Carthage.
Miss Catherine Futrell, graduate
nurse of Baylor hospital, who has
been in the Veterans hospital in Los
Angeles, California, has been trans-
ferred to the Veterans hospital at
Lisbon, South of Dallas. Miss Fut-
relle is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. S. M. Futrell, whom she has
been visiting in Mesquite.

ghter, Mary Lou, and Mrs. Hagar's
mother, Mrs. Leo Qulnn of Hills-
boro, returned from South Texas last
week, where they viBited Corpus
Christi, and Raymondville where
Mr. Hagar's brother, Lewis Hagar,
is mauager of Western Union. Mr.
Hagar stated that fishing at Red
Fish Bay was good. Dorothy Hagar
who had been visiting at Raymond-
ville for three weeks, returned with
the family.
Sgt. H. C. (Carl) Rhodes, Ser-
vice Co., 168th Inf. 45th Div., of
Phoenix, Arizona, stopped off in
Dallas' on his return trip from the
Louisiana maneuvers, and spent the
week-end visiting his mother, Mrs.
Maude Rhodes and his brother, Cecil
Rhodes. Sargeant Rhodes left on
the Sunshine Special Monday. The
three Rhodes brothers, Cecil, Harter
and Carl received most of their edu-
cation in the Mesquite schools. It
will be remembered that Cecil serv-
ed in the Texas National Guards
prior to the U. S. entry into the
World War, and served over seas
with 14 4th Inf., 36 Div., being a
Bugler in C.O.H.
