THE HELLCAT
NEWS
January 1967
92nd Recon Reports CONGRADULATIONS! JACK and MARY
First I want to thank Harold
Hendricks (or putting out such a
fine Hellcat News, and I know its
keeping him on the "go" doing
so, and then for forwarding notes
that he has received from some
of our group.
A note from Sidney Goodman
(Met. Det. 119th Armd. Engr.
Bn.) stating: My wife Jean, and
nine year old son Freddie, wish to
say HELLO to all of my Hellcat
friends. I operate the Goodman
Fence and Window Co. in Norfolk,
Virginia. I have signed ud a new
member for the 92nd Recon -
Samuel I. White, who is an at-
torney here in Norfolk, Virginia.
(Sidney - Your "new member"
signed un a year ago, but we
haven't heard from him since. To
be a member, one has to pav one's
d"fs each year.) Be*t«*r have a
little talk with S. I. White.
Note from Rav Pieterich stat-
ing: Enclosed with letter are my
dues for the coming vear in the
best association in this country.
Sorry I couldn't make the Chicago
convention (we missed you) but I
sure will make it again next Feb-
ruary to Aurora, Illinois. (You
will be expected). Had quite a
surprise this summer on a Sun-
dav. Frank Costa, from Florida
and Rockford, Illinois, came into
the tavern to visit us, and lo and
behold, I got a telephone call
from a phone booth on the edge
of town, and it was Albert "Pop"
Eason and his family from Des
Moines, Iowa. I took off and met
Eason and lead him in to my
tavern and living quarters — so
here were the three of us really
talking over old times. Eason was
driving through going back to
Des Moines, and Costa was visit-
ing his wife's folks here in Eau
Claire, Wisconsin. Must go now
and take care of my thirsty cust-
omers.
Note from "Bomby" Bombasaro,
and thanks for writing, but I feel
your news was just a little too
personal to pass on. We'll have to
discuss this in Detroit, and I have
a notion you are going to make
yourself heard. Bomby, I'm glad
you heard from Len Dooley and
Ed Brovic because I haven't. Both
the gentlemen are busy, but
couldn't they drop me a little note
too?
Note from Wm. L. Lafkowitz
(Hq. & Ser. 92nd Cav.) — Con-
gratulations on becoming our unit
rep. Sorry to learn sad news about
C. W. Ruble's passing away. I
remember him well, a nice chap.
Ex-Hellcat president Jack Miller
and his lovely wife, Mary cele-
brated their 25th Wedding Anni-
versary the 26th of November. It
was a gala party attended by their
many friends and a wonderful
time was had by all. Nick Hard-
ony, our treasurer informs me this
picture was taken very early in
the morning. I could tell that from
Mary's expression. She uses that
look when Jack starts telling
jokes, and he don't start telling
jokes till the early hours of the
morning.
Nice to see Amato in the associa-
tion. Try to obtain Teddy Yeler's
membership, or is he a member?
(I don't know, but maybe our
Secretary can check this, and if
he isn't a member, why don't you
do the honors?) How come Brovic
is so quiet lately? (We wonder
too). Thank Janet and Larry Mintz
for a splended job — my best to
them. Best to you and Mrs. Dreh-
er. Hope to see you all in Detroit.
Happy and Healthy Holiday to
you all.
Note to Bill — Thanks for send-
ing me The Jewish Veteran paper,
on page 7 of the paper there is
a picture of Attorney General
Lefkowitz with Gov. Nelson Rock-
efeller — is this a relative of
yours?
I'm going out on a limb, but
I'll be expecting letters from Len
Dooley, Ed Brovic, Frank Costa,
Pop Eason and when I get a list
of all those in the 92nd, 1 will
name more names.
Kay and I wish every Hell Cat
and Hell Kitten a healthy and
prosperous New Year.

thanks to all the folks who keep
the paper and the Association act-
ive. Your all doing a great job.
I have three sons; one in college,
one in high school and one at
home. The entire family is enjoy-
ing good health and I have my
own barber shop.

Report From Your
2nd Vice President
Fellow Hellcats:
You are probably wondering
what the Second Vice-President
is doing that you elected into
office at our last reunion in Chic-
ago. Well I can tell you this I
might not at this stage of the
game be doing anything, but I
am thinking what has to be done
because we do hope to have many
and many more Reunions, until we
are so old that we cannot travel
to the far corners of the United
States. But maybe before many
more years we will be able to
travel all the way to say Calif-
ornia, or Florida at a reasonable
cost for one of our Reunions and
still not have to take more time
than we possibly can afford to do
this in.
The big factor in having any
Reunion is the people that will
take the time to host one, no
matter where it might be. If you
are willing to put the effort into a
reunion, then I will gamble that
everyone will show up no matter
what part of the country it is in.
I will alwavs use this as an ex-
ample and that is the Reunion we
had in Charlotte, North Carolina.
It has come out of many a mouth
of us Hellcats that it is to far to
go, but what happened, we had a
tremendous turnout and far better
then expected so do not let the
distance part discourage your
chain of thought. Let your choice
be known with a nice article in
the Hellcat News and to me and
You can bet your bottom dollar
that your ray of hope can turn
into a bright light and come true.
To many of our members get dis-
couraged when a few say it will
not work. If you want a reunion
in your area, you will fight w:th
all your might to have it there
and with a lot of help from your
