152nd SIG.
FRANK DEVERS, one of our
most alert Unit Representatives
issues a dandy mimeographed sheet
of news to his group. Our salute to
Frank for his fine efforts. He tells
us that DONALD AKERS, a stu-
dent at Columbia U. has received
his B.A. in Economics and is now
working for his Master's Degree.
CARL HABERMANN is a senior
physicist at Case Institute and is
specializing in Electronics. DAN
DONNO teaches English at Rut-
gers; DALE KRTJSE is with the
telephone company in Salem, Ore-
gon. He also had a letter from LOU
CHERRY who regrets that foot-
ball practice will prevent his at-
tendance at the Louisville Conven-
tion, over the Labor Day weekend.
LOUIS G. MATTINGLY of Tul-
sa, Oklahoma, wrote us (and later
phoned) relative to a program for
the coming Convention. Lou is in
the advertising business and be-
lieves a considerable amount of ad-
vertising can be sold on the Re-
union program and would like to
work on the idea. He feels that a
two color cover and pix would lend
much appeal. Lou publishes two
monthly organs, the HAND GRE-
NADE and a tabloid newspaper for
and by the V.F.W. He also has
connections with the Dexter Pub-
lishing Company among many
others and is well recommended.
He is hard at work on the I.O.OjF.
State Convention at present.
92nd CAV.
BILL HAWKINS of Columbus,
Ohio, recently inserted a Hellcat ad
in the Ohio State Journal and has
received inquiries as to whether
the 1950 Convention could be held
at Columbus. We've had invita-
tions from many cities throughout
the nation but feel this should be
decided at the Louisville get-to-
gether.
We are in recent receipt of a
letter from BILL HOGENDORN
who is with the Arabian-American
Oil Company in Saudi Arabia. He
enclosed some juicy pix of Arabs,
playfully beheaded by other Arabs.
Bill has recently visited Asmara,
Eritrea and Cheron, which is a
cemetery for Italian war dead. The
battlefields are still as they were.
DIV. HQ.
LEONARD P. DOOLEY contacts
us quite regularly and tells us that
the entire plant of the Daily News-
Tribune, where he is employed was
totally destroyed by fire His great-
est personal loss was his Division
History and valuable combat pho-
tos. If any member has a copy of
the History for sale, contact us.
Several members are in the market
for them. Last fall, enroute to
Cuba, Leonard spent a pleasant
P.M. in New Orleans with SHEP
JANE (66th) who is attending
Tulane U. He further reports that
RUSS LOWE (119th) is doing like-
wise at a Kansas University; BOB
COBLE (43rd) is attending school
in Chi. WILLIAM WHITTINGTON
(IG) is a professor, no less, in dear
old Texas.
494th FA
WILLIAM H. RAINES dropped
us a line from Knoxville. He has
recently graduated from the Univ-
ersity of Tennessee and contem-
plates a berth with the Federal
Government. He'd like to hear from
any HELLCATS in that area.
