The HELLCAT NEWS
66TH UNIT REP.
REPORT
To begin would like to ex-
press my wishes for a happy
Holiday Season to all Hellcats.
News for this month is again
hard to come by but it seems
that we're not too easily dis-
couraged. Especially since
reading the last issue of the
Hellcat News and noting that
a couple of the fellows from
the 66th have written.
Sure hope Cart Beatty will
continue his efforts to look up
new members. I can remem-
ber that Carl was a news re-
porter at one time for the
old 56th Infantry Regiment
"Halftrack". I have a couple
of tame worn copies of "Half-
track" issues and see that he
was doing a good job of it
way back then.
Have continued mailing
more delinquent notices over
the past month and have
also written -to some fellows who
were never members. Evident-
ly all of my letters have been
delivered with about three or
four exceptions. Incident ally
those that were returned were
from "C" Company men.
It may be a little early to
ask but would sure like to have
a note from all the fellows who
plan to attend the next reunion
in St. Louis. I'm sure all of
your buddies would like to know
who to expect. Also believe
this would pick up a few extra
people, especially some who
may have a little trouble decid-
ing. I believe St. Louis may
draw quite a few from the
Chicago area inasmuch as it's
really not too far. So it might
be well if all members from
Chicago talk it up and move in
on St. Louis.
Am hoping to have some Pit-
tsburgh Reunion pictures in the
news before long and hope Karl
Snyder's pictures came out OK
as I'm sure he got some good
ones.
Again the best to a! and
hope everyone will take time
out to write a Hellcat friend
or two.

REPORT FROM
23RD TK BN
UNIT REP
Hi Fellows!
You would probably like to
know a little about your new
unit rep so here goes. My name
is Fred Hancock and I am mar-
ried to a lovely wife. Her name
is Marge. We have two fine
sons. They are Thomas, age
16 and Freddie, age 14. I was
a member of the regular army
and served with several outfits
before being assigned to the
12ih Armored Division in April
1943. I was with the 12th all
through Europe but left the
division in July, 1945 for the
States. I hope that I serve the
23rd and the association as well
as my predecessors. I will do
my very best.
I would like to see the 23rd
Tk. Bn. have the largest rep-
resentation in the association.
At one time we had the largest
membership and I am wonder-
ing what happened. Are you
deliquent with your dues? If so
please send them hi and be
one of the boys again. We want
to progress fellows so let's make
a little extra effort to put the
23rd Tk. Bn. on top again. A
good Hellcat never gives up.
If any of you need an address
of someone in the 23rd do not
hesitate to contact me. I have
a list of almost everyone who
was in me 23rd up to tne end
of the war.
On November 10th the wife
and I had the honor of attend-
ing a surprise 50th birthday
party in North Reading, Mass.
Jean Biunetta really went all
out with a big splash to sur-
prise her Johnny. With friends
and relatives there must have
been 150 people attending. John
was really surprised when he
saw his buddies from the 23rd.
for a little fun Jean and her
children presented John with
a large gift box containing glass-
es, false teeth, tooth powder,
a large comb, and to top it off
a long gray wig. After that
John was all set for the very
nice dinner that was served
and the dancing afterwards. At-
tending the party were Cliff
Bourie and Ms wife Helen -
Karl Kugel and his wife Paul-
ine and of course Marge and
I. Everyone had a grand time.
Jean always said thaJt one day
she would sit at the head
taJble. I am sure that the folks
that know John Brunetta and
were not at his party wish
him many happy returns. The
first 50 years was the toughest
but the next 50 years is sup-
posed to be easy. Anyways -
John, Happy Birthday, old bud-
dy.
So what do you say felows?
Let's get the old go, go, go.
spirit and start the old 23rd
tracks rolling to the top again.
Get your dues in and read the
Hellcat News. Don't be an ex-
member and contact anyone you
know who is not a member
now. Spread the word around.
Any news for thiis column will
be welcome so let us hear
from some of you fellows.
Marge and I and the boys
wish Seasons Greetings to you
all.

HELLCATS
Jul'ius C. Tervay (C/119) -
2545 Hidden Lane, Hayward, -
Calif.: - "What a pleasire it
was to meet you both after be-
ing pen pals for so many
years. I am sorry we could
not stay for the banquet in Pit-
tsburgh but as usual we attemp-
ted to do too much in a short
period of time. It had been
five years since I had been
home and there were so many
people to see. We had a wonder-
ful trip back, through the Black
Hills of the Dakotas, up to Mt.
Rushmore into Yellowstone Pk.
where we spent a few days. -
Then to Salt Lake City and the
Tabernacle and finally to Reno
to see Harrah's Old Car Exhib-
it which should be a must for
everyone who comes passing
through there." Ed note: it was
a pleasure meeting you Jules
and hope you will make some
of our future reunions with e-
nou'gh time to stay for our din-
ner dance as that is always
the real highlight of our get-
together.
SflVEAJ Herbert L. Short, i(A/-
92) 552nd USA Artillery Group,
BFPO 24 APO 82, New York,
N. Y.: — "Haven't written to
you for quite some time. No
excuse for it. Much has hap-
pened to our family in the last
two years and all good. First
of all I will reach my 22nd
year in the army shortly. I
have been back in Germany
with my family for the last
two years and fortunately have
recelive 'two promotions in that
time. I have now reached the
highest enlisted grade (SMAJ-
E-9). For me this has been
quite an achievement. The
next good news is that my
daughter recently married a
service man and is very happy.
We have been seeing some of
the Old Country we hadnt' seen
in the past. The tour of duty
this time has been quite hard
as most of our time is spent
with NATO countries but at the
same time it lis also quite a
challenge. It will be good to get
back to the good old U.S.A.
so I can do some hunting and
fishing again. I haven't had a
chance to do any of that here.
I hope that one of these years
in the near future I will be
able to make another reunion.
Best of health and happiness
to all Hellcats. My best re-
gards to the Executive Council
and other personnel that devote
their time, effort and funds
towards perpetuating the as -
sociation and the Hellcat News.
Nathan Levine (B/82) - 60-
11 Broadway, Apt. 2M, WoOd-
side 77, N.Y.: - "After residing
in Irvington, N.J. for almost
six years, we returned to our
old stamping grounds. I also
changed positions. I am still
in orthopedic shoe work bult
with another concern. We en-
joy the humor in Arthur Hall's
notes and appreciate your work
with the Hellcat News. "Sign-
ed: Rose and Nathan Levine.
William Baraniak (152) - 45-
66 Westland, De'arborn, Mich.:
"Enjoy getting the Hellcat News
each month. Would like to hear
from my old buddies John
Gallu and Clayton Sime. Still
in business with a Shell Serv-
ice station on West Warren in
Dearborn, Mich. Keep up the
good work."
Alfred M. Katz (A/119) -
Club 9W-Route 9W, Upper Ny-
ack, N.Y.: "I would love to
attend one of our reunions but
this is my busy season. I en-
joy reading of my former bud-
dies and would like to extend
an invitation to have them
stop by for a cocktail. I am
just 20 miles from the city.
My best to everyone."
