Hi Folks,
Here we go for another year.
The 56th is in the lead so far
as membership goes but its a
long way to July. We wish to
thank all of the membership who
have sent in their dues so prompt-
ly and to the fine group of
"Boosters" we have in our out-
fit each year. Without these loy-
al men we would be down the
drain. So lets start right now to
save Harold a lot of work and
the assn. some cash by sending
in your dues right now.
We wish to correct an error
in our last column. The George
Bator family was present not
the George Bates. My apologies
George to you, your lovely wife
and daughters. It was real fine
to see you all again and we hope
to have you all in Cleveland with
us (We'll make the two A.M.
Mass.)
We omitted Mr. & Mrs. L. Wal-
ters for which I should be shot.
He and Big Jim McCormick had
a reunion as they played ball
together in Camp Campbell (Sor-
ry for the error.) Jack and Mary
Miller are the proud possessors
of a new daughter-in-law. Toby
was married according to Ber-
nie McCann and our good friend
Nick Hardony was present to
enjoy the event. "Watch out
Nick it might be catching."
We received a very nice note
from Bernie thanking Dot and
yours truly for our assistence
at the reunion. "Sighs of re-
lief," it was a financial success.
Bernie, Bert, Jeep, and their
wives deserve a Real Vote of
thanks from all. We had a real
ball and anyone who missed this
one sure missed the boat. Jack
Miller will come up with some-
thing in Cleveland, so start your
plans now, Don't wait until June.
We want to see the 56th lead
the way with top attendance.
Our thanks to Harold for his
note of thanks its repitious but
so is life. So to all you good
people in our assn. Not just the
56th our sincere thanks for your
support throughout the year.
It was so good to see every-
one again that words can never
show or tell the satisfaction one
fees when you can grasp the
hand and say Hello to someone
after a years absence.

BATTALION
With falling yellowing leaves,
the World Series and Pro Foot-
ball, another Autumn has arrived
and time for getting lots of corr-
espondence off on these cool Aut-
umn evenings. Before long Hal-
loween will have come and pas-
sed, Thanksgiving will come along
the Yule season and then anoth-
er New Year.
Have come up with an adjust-
ed "A" Company roster and if
only 2-3 of the names acquired
become members, our 714th
Tank Battalion will have grown
somewhere near the top. I'm
almost sure of these fellos' sign-
ing up once they receive my let-
ters. I know Peter Dutchka has
been talking to the fellows up in
New England as well as sending
along some addresses.
Received a letter of interest
from Dave Golden who had a
visit from our Pres. Bob Saehloff.
He and Dave Spent a few hours
scanning over some photos tak-
en at our wonderful Philadelphia
reunion in August. We're still
talking about the Saturday night
banquet.
In Hal Hendricks Tetter, he in-
forms me that only 70 Hellcats
of the 714th have sent in their
dues for "68-69". Let's get with
it fellas, get it in now before
the holiday season comes along.
Some of the 714th mail sent
my way included my old top
bunk mate of the 3rd platoon,
G. Company, 44th Armored Reg-
iment at Camp Campbell, George
F. Hood. George sent in his dues
and also became a booster.
Would like George to try to con-
tact old Sgt. Vance and Sgt.
York out west or send in some
addresses of any of the boys we
don't have. Winston Ball was a-
nother lad heard from. Bruno
Chmielewski sent in his dues
plus a booster donation and news
of his charming daughter Jo-
lene's engagement announcement
"Congrats". Bill Koenig of "B"
Company sent his dues and a
booster donation. His 5 children
are all well and healthy, as well
as helping dad in his lumber
business. Another "B" Company
lad, Billy Lucas sent in his dues
and booster donation and hopes
to be in Cleveland in "69".
At every reunion there is so
much talk about the enthusiasm,
spirit, and brotherhood that ex-
ists amongst the members, and
to show how that same feeling
persists and prevails on the new
members who join and attend
their 1st reunion, Peter Dutchka
just sent in a very enthusiastic
letter relating to the same. He
mentioned how wonderful it was
to see old friends again after
so many hears, how everyone
was so friendly; how much he,
wife Barbara and son Pete en-
joyed the Hellcat news and al-
ready Pete is talking up the
Cleveland reunion to other form-
er comrades in and around his
home town. He also sent in two
prospects for John Clarkes "56th"
