I hope this column finds you all
working on your plans to attend the
reunion in Minneapolis next July. It is
certainly not too early to get your
planning done so that the packing and
going is just routine when the time
comes. It promises to be even bigger
and better than Philly, so don't be the
one who says "Sorry I missed the big
reunion, but maybe I will make it next
year!" "Next years" are becoming
numbered and "now" should replace
"maybe" in your thoughts of the future.
All the kids are saying "Do it now
before you are 30 and too old to do it."
Well, this Hellcat says "Do it, you are
never too old to do it." Do what? Meet
me in Minneapolis and bring your
Hellkitten along so that she can meet
me, too! In the same vein of thought,
she might even be lucky enough to be
granted an audience with T.K. . . .
Received this letter from the B
Battery secretary, Tom Rivers: "Hi Ken,
thought I had better drop you a line. I
have not heard much of anything from
the members of B Battery and when I
do it is usually the Hellkitten who
writes. Have sent out cards, but the
replies are scarce. Note: I am so out of
touch that I have not received the
Hellcat News since April. That is the
way things go when you live in Arizona
and have to depend on the Pony
Express for your mail. Will have to give
those old hayburners a larger ration! —
The Lonesome Secretary from B, T.R."
The Hellcat News will be there soon,
Tom, as soon as that ol' P.O. vet
George Moss hears about it. Now you
B/494 Redlegs, do something about
Lonesome Tom from Arizona and get
that name changed to "Happy Tom
from Arizona!"
Randall Muchow (B) says he doesn't
see many of the old gang out there in
Otis, CO. So let it be known that
Randall likes company and any of you
who get to Colorado, stop and shoot
the breeze. Note to Randall from Ken:
You say that Don Kohn stopped and
you had a fine visit. I have been looking
for him for three years and if you have
his address, please send it to me as
C/494AT THE PHILADELPHIA REUNION, 1977.
soon as possible. Right after you send
it write to him and tell him that you will
meet him and the rest of the B/494
gang in Minneapolis.
Royal Hodgdon (Sv) wrote with the
address of Sid Brown of Sv/494. He has
a son, two daughters, and seven
grandchildren. Royal works in Cushing
Hospital in Framingham, MA. He
received a letter a short time ago from
Francis Muth. He likes the Hellcat
News and reading about all the
Hellcats and Hellkittens.
John and Evelyn Harris (B) write that
they are sorry to miss the Philly
reunion, but will try to see us all in
Minneapolis. They are doing fine and
have six grandchildren with the oldest
being 17. We will be waiting for you in
Minneapolis!
Henry and Eleanor Moritko (A) say
that they regret missing the reunion.
(No excuses next year, folks — we are
bringing the reunion to you!) Henry is
still with the post office. Says he is
eligible for retirement, but feels too
young to retire (Atta boy, Hank!). The
Moritkos have one married son, lovely
Hellkitten grandaughters, and one
bachelor son. How, some of those
young Hellkittens that are unattached,
come to the reunions . . . (Just a
thought, Eleanor.)
Henry Rohrbeck (C) says that he
sure wanted to be in Philly but other
plans had been made. The Rohrbecks
are rockhounds and had a show in
Franklyn, NC at the same time as the
reunion. He met a man from the 495th
at the show. (It would be good to get in
touch with Henry, Bob.) Henry says he
has a lot of snapshots that he will send
to put in the Hellcat News. The rock
business goes by the name of
"Rohrbeck's Lapidary" of North
Carolina. They are on the road so much
that they bought a bus and have been
to shows in Columbia, SC, Winston-
Salem, NC, Fayetteville, NC and New
11
York City. Henry, it is good to hearfrom
you and we hope that bus takes off
west and north next July and ends up in
Minny.
Mrs. Gene Bone (Sv) writes that
Gene had a massive stroke in 1975. He
cannot speak and is paralyzed on the
left side. She reads the Hellcat News
to him and he enjoys it very much.
Gene would like to hear from all the
494th, so Hellcats, get those cards and
letters on the way to Eugene N. Bone,
Box 64, Arlington, KY 42021. Makethat
mailbox overflow! They send their best
wishes to all the Hellcats and
Hellkittens of the 12th.
Austin and Maude Fitzgerald (Sv)
write that they regret missing the
reunion but will try to be in
Minneapolis. They really enjoyed the
Springfield reunion. They send their
fondest regards to all the Hellcats and
Hellkittens of the 12th.
Bill and Joan McCloud (B) wish to
say "hello" and convey best regards to
all the B/494 gang. Bill says that except
for those arthritis pains, they are still
doing fine.
Dom Latella (Hq) says he is sorry
that he did not make the reunion, and
that it is nice to read the Hellcat News
and about all the buddies that he has
not seen in all these years. He
admonishes us to keep up the good
work and asks God to bless all the
Hellcats. (Dom, get to Minneapolis; we
will all be there!)
Tom and Lorraine Scott (B) say that
they had a great time at the Western
Chapter Reunion on the Queen Mary.
They extend an invitation to all to
attend the next one to be held in
Portland, OR and hosted by Jim Logan.
(Tom, how about two reunions in '78?
One in Portland and Minneapolis! Talk
it over with Hellkitten Lorraine and we
will see you there!)
Harold and Georgie Williams (C)
wanted to attend the reunion but
