RETURN REQUESTED
BATTALION
Goodness knows how the time
has flown by and I hope by now
all you fellows have been working
on plans to see that all media
of travel are put in operative se-
quences for the trip to the Cleve-
land Reunion. The many months
of preparations and plans by our
highly esteemed friend and chair-
man and his staff will show the
fruits of their hard work by the
large tun:out we hope to have this
year. The day for departure
should be encircled in every mem-
bers' household, lest we forget.
The mail has been on sort of
the quiet side this month, so with
little to report, I will make this
months column brief. With Mem-
orial Day just around the corner,
we should all strive to keep the
memories of all our deceased
chums and buddies in our prayers
and thoughts that one day reserv-
ed for all veterans. Let's also not
forget to display 'OLD GLORY'
that day, the one symbol of Amer-
ican faith in our Great country
no one can ever take away from
us. With all the crisis we ever
faced, I doubt if anyone of us
will ever lose the love of our
country or give in to the whims
and wishes of the few in this
country who desecrate the flag or
try to upset the democratic prin-
cipals it stands for. I believe our
div. should undertake a resolution
at our next reunion and send it
to the Vice Pres. of the U.S. (a
former 10th Armd. Div. Member)
to present to the congress our
feelings on persuing the persecu-
tion of laws against such acts by
these groups. The sooner we can
get the action started by Congress,
the sooner these groups will see
their dreams of a Third World
disappear. Sometimes fire must
be fcught with fire and undemo-
cratic means must be used to
keep our democraic principals
safe. That was one reason we
went to serve our country in WW-
2 and we can always help to de-
fend it from within. Some one
remembered the other day that
to solve the campus unrests, the
govt, set up a National Chaplains
Office in Wash. D.C. and let any
student or beatnick or yippie with
a gripe go get his T.S. ticket
punched. I'm positive the end re-
sult would see a lot of TS ticket
burning. As for the militants in
this country, I believe there are
a few tank drivers who would
kindly drive them to the DMZ
line and give them the opportun-
ity to meet their challenges with
the marines making sure they go
forward rather than get any
ideas of retreating.
Still recuperating from my old-
est sons wedding and with lots
to do in the ensuing weeks, I
leave you now with best wishes
to all.

Of Course
Your Coming!!
It is going to be a happy home-
coming weekend for all the 12th
ADA graduates in Cleveland July
31, Aug. 1 & 2. We know that
you are coming so we'd like to
tell you this bit of advice. If you
are driving, and plan to use the
Ohio turnpike, the most conven-
ient way to get into downtown
Cleveland, would be to use exit
10 and then Interstate 71. This is
a new road and eliminates all of
the traffic lights and traffic con-
gestion. It saves about an hour
of driving time from the turnpike
exits to the hotel.
We tell you this because we
want to enjoy your company at
least one hour longer.
You can be sure you have reach-
ed middle age when your weight
lifting consists of merely standing
up.
Remember, men, 40 is a great
age, women are still interested
in you but the army isn't.
AIB: Passed away with a heart
attack on April 13, 1969. Jay and
his wife Sally, had been attending
the reunions for nearly ten years.
He was only 44 years old and
leaves behind three fine boys,
Rick, 16 years old, Charles, 13
years old and Kurt, five years
eld.
