The Snow Birds
Of The Midwest
They came from far, they
came from near. The hometown
Hellcats of Fort Wayne, Ind.
had the supreme pleasure to
greet visitors from Conn, to
Minn. The snows of the Upper
Peninsula and of the energy
stricken Midwest did not daunt
the courage of those Hellcats
and Hell kittens that wanted that
handshake contact. Blizzardly
conditions met the Thursday
early birds driving in from
Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ill-
inois. It petered out at the Ind-
iana line only to flutter in flurr-
ies on Friday to add a frosting
to the accumulation. Nature's
way of agitating humanity
spurted through Sat. to sup-
ply the calming of Sunday with
beautiful sunshine for the
homeward bound. Driving aga-
inst that brilliant shine afforded
a few problems that Hellcats
have faced for many moons
(suns).
The Ordnance Unit, the
134th, 'hosted' a tour of their
work area, the assembly line
production of International Har-
vester trucks. We had the good
view of the chassis, the differ-
ential, the transmission, the
motor, the wheels, the cab and
the body - then the final test
of starting the engines and
watching the trucks roll into
position for travel to the sales
areas. John-McNaull, the 134th
Unit Rep, had the biqqest bang
of all!! While waiting for a

rear-end rapped by a semi. It

the tour with 61 other Hellcats

of Memories
She was a tremendously
courageous person and one
who will be missed at re-
unions. For those who have
attended reunions since way
back, the gal to which we
pay tribute, had an attend-
ance record close behind
those of Len Dooley & Frank
Tiberio. The Hellcat wife is
Eilaine Cure who passed a-
way Dec. 10. We are tardy in
our reporting because we
hadn't heard until Bill show-
ed up for the Mid-west Re-
union - alone.
Eilaine and Bill Cure, the
most liked couple from the
152nd Signal Co. have been
a dynamic duo for Hellcat
causes through thick and
thin. Bill was prsident of our
Association in 1951. The
Cures met and enjoyed both
European tours in 1971 and
1975 at strategic places even
though they weren't part of
the organized groups.
For those of us who were
present at the dance at Philly,
saw Eilaine and Bill dancing
up a storm. She seemed to
sense that reunion would be
her last one and her happy

brave disposition was an in-
spiration to all of us. It seem-
ed ironic that the fine picture
of the Cures, was in the Jan-
uary Hellcat News and we
didn't know. Our hearts go
out in love for Bill and his
family. We must be content
with pleasant memories of
such a fine courageous lady.
It's great to be a Hellcat!
