Well start getting your act
together you Hellcats and Hel-
lkittens, it won't be too long
before the "BIG ONE" in
Orlando. Get your reservations
in early.
Had a letter from Dale Ulrich,
"Sv", and is he and Kate ever
ready for Orlando. And the
good news, Kate is or will be
retired before this issue hits
your mailbox. So congratula-
tions are in order. Dale and you
enjoy your travels and put that
new mobile home to good use.
Also congratulations on the
arrival of your new grand-daugh-
ter in San Diego.
More good news from Dale,
seems like Len Kornman, "Hq"
is going to use all his influence
to promote a large gathering in
Orlando. Go get 'em Len.
Had a call from Kornman
and he's really going after them.
Started off by really throwing a
beauty at me and it certainly
will make "A" Btry happy.
Expecting George and Marion
Douglas "A" to attend their first
reunion." Great.
Before going on any further,
anyone who hasn't paid his
dues before this issue arrives
will be delinquent. But being
the good guys that we are, get
your dues in now and all is
forgiven.
How about this "Lifetime Mem-
bership"? Seems like it's really
growing. To join Clint Seitz "B"
and Bob Saehloff "Sv", we
have Fred Erichsen, "A", Bob
Schwartz, "C", Jerry Helgeson,
"A" Frank DeGenero, "Sv".
Joan Dojutrek planned a Life-
time Membership for Hank
before his untimely death. Well
Joan went through with the gift
that Hank would have cherish-
ed.
Many thanks to all the Hel-
lcats who hit the HCN as the
"EARLY BIRDS" in the June
issue.
Welcome Cedric Utter, "C" to
our wonderful association. Join
your many buddies in "C" Btry.
and how about heading for
Orlando and paying some of
them a visit and make many
new acquiantences?
Also good to have Clifford
Klose, "C" back. We missed you.
So Cliff along with Cedric, how
about the latest???
Haven't heard anything
about the North Central Chap-
ter Reunion, so till we do, we'll
just put it on hold. (Editor's
Note: Report is in this issue.)
Guess the Eastern Chapter
was another huge success.
Seems like they had an over-
flow crowd, forcing them to
change locations for '86. "A"
Btry was represented as usual
by the old guard, Fred and Isa-
bella Erichsen, "A" and Bob
Saehloff, "Sv". They were join-
ed by Jim and Fran Grieco,
"Sv". Jim and Fran, if possible
head for Orlando come Sept-
ember. "Sv" Btry is always well
represented, so you two come
down and enjoy your many
friends ... Looks like next year
we will really have to start a
PUSH for the Eastern Chapter.
Just have to get more from the
495th to attend.
Talking about getting the acts
together, I better get mine to-
gether. Look toward the August
issue for those planning on
attending the "Big One".
While going to work and en-
tering K-Mart, my wife Helen
noticed she was being followed
and finally approached, it was
one of the guys from the 11th
Arm'd Div. He was intrigued by
our 12th Armored Hellcat
license plate. Helen gave him
the low down. They are beau-
ties, we got ours at the Mid-west
from Warren Maue, "17th" I'm
sure he still has many on hand.
They are really something,
three bucks plus two to handle
the mailing cost. Makes our
Plymouth look like a Caddie.
Jim Gillan, "C" is sitting on
pins and needles waiting for
the Orlando get together. Seems
like he got pretty warmed up at
the Southeastern one.
Art and Dorothy Shirvin,
"B", enjoyed the Midwest Re-
union so well, that plans are
made for the "Biggie". Art is in
the final stages before retire-
ment. Believe me, you'll enjoy.
Seems like Wade and Mary-
lee Shulse, "A" enjoyed the
Western Chapter. Enjoyed the
trip back even though it was
cut a bit short due to an eye
infection. Well after a three day
stay at the hospital, surgery
and lot of injections, seems like
the eye is returning to normal.
Well Wade take good care . . .
Still looking forward to seeing
you at one of the reunions.
We certainly will miss Fred
and Isabella Erichsen at Or-
lando. Will have to agree, Fred
has one of the best attendance
records for reunions. Still who
will keep us in line and what
about the whistle. I'm sure
George Douglas will share in
our disappointment.
Fred and Isabella are plan-
ning on a trip to Italy, come
September. Bon Voyage!!! We
will still keep our fingers cross-
ed.
I thought I had it in the HCN
in the early part of the year, the
loss of Belva Cox. Belva was
the wife of Donald Cox, "B"
who passed away in March of
'79. Received this news from
Norb Bruemmer, who in turn
received it from the Postal Not-
ification. Sorry, but we have no
other information.
Guess you guys and gals must
be mighty busy gardening,
vacationing or just enjoying the
beautiful weather cause the
news has been a little skimpy.
So let's go, get with it and drop
a few lines.
Vern Opsahl "Sv" has been
busy with his new home, the
lawn, garden and planting
trees, but still took time to drop
a few lines. He and Mary are
both well and will check up for
us on Dorie Ostraat, whom we
haven't heard from for some
time.
And how about you guys that
have never written yet? Sure
would like to hear from you
guys or get your wives to drop a
few lines. Take the easy way
out ... or the many new guys
we have, many of your buddies
would certainly like to hear
from you. What a better way
than through the HCN.
I'll get on my soap box again.
You know there are many bud-
dies out there who still don't
know about the association. I'm
sure a little extra effort by all of
us would locate some.
Then those who fell by the
wayside. A little prodding from
some of you would help. To
mention a few . . . "Hq". Bob

Well Sir, 'tis another month
closer to the 'Biggie'! Are your
plans all formulated? Reserva-
tions made? Plane or train tic-
kets purchased? Car all servic-
ed and tuned? Great! Now you
can start on the list of things
that you can't possibly get
along without - until you try to
get it all in the suitcases that
you find you need one more of.
Visiting Disney World should
bring us back to our younger
and exciting days - ah yes, I
can remember when it was
'Wine, Women and Song'. Now
its 'Beer, The Ole Lady and
T.V.'!
HEADQUARTERS
A very pleasant letter from
Ralph Phillips saying: 'Just a
little note to let you know that
the Eastern Chapter reunion
was a great success. I don't
know the final figure on how
many attended, but it was well
Schulse, "A". Tom Freeman,
Jim Boykin and Bill Altizer,
"B". Jerry Collins, Nick Man-
gialardo and Willie Mitchell,
"C". Fred Bell, Syl Corressell
and Sam DiDominico, "Sv".
Dwight Chapman, John Nelson
and Clem Freund.
That's about it folks, but in
closing want to leave with a
though for Marvin Witt, "Hq".
Take the advice of your good
neighbor, Tilford Julson of the
493rd and take Loretta and
head for Orlando. Tilford
doesn't miss too many. Must be
a good reason. So how about it
Marvin?
Take care, God Bless, see you
next month. SEND IN YOUR
DUES.
