About Matheny, have proof

Matheny. Incidently that is a
champagne breakfast going on.
Speaking of party's, Dale and
Kay had been married 40 years
the 2nd of Feb. Their 4 sons
threw a surprise anniversary
party at the Willows Restaurant
in Toledo on the 14th. Dale,
Kay, George, Alvena, Joe and
Ruth Palmeri plus about sev-
enty others attended the bash.
George went by and checked
on Warren Maue who only lives
about ten miles away. He is
recovering fairly well. Also,
Babe and Pete Danielson spent
a couple of days on their way
to Orlando and promised to
stop again on their return trip.
Had a good letter from Geo.
O'Bryan and some badly need-
ed information. Have list right
from head stones in Epinal. I
have just removed about 50+
names from 56th KIA list in
1981 book. If the head stones
say 66th, then they belong with
the 66th. Chilcut and quite a
few more were missing now
having been shipped back to
America. He made trip thru
Alsace-Lorraine-said the nar-
row streets, manure piles, etc,
were still there. Went up to
Hanover but only got to see the
town. Managed to frequent a
few beer gardens and made
some good video tape, which
he will let us see in Louisville.
He went to '88 Reunion Meet-
ing over in K.C. along with Gil
and Aurella Heine. He fell on
ice and hurt his hand, but I

could read his letter just fine.
Had a nice visit with Gil and
Aurella Heine via phone. They
report a nice winter.
Received a good letter from
Loden. Started talking about
farmer who caught his scarf,
then jacket in power takeoff on
manure spreader. He just went
round and round till some one
cut it off. He recalled the time
his pet bull got him down and
was putting horns into his ribs.
He had a new pond which he
ran into, but the smart bull
came in after him. He man-
aged to get away but the bull
was hamburger by noon next
day!
Gang! Guess What! Received
a BEN GONA letter from Mel
Kleb. Cherry and I have been
to see him two or three times,
in fact we called him up at 1
A.M. when we passed through
Houston on our honeymoon. We
were Texas Aggies together - in
A.S.T.P. at Mines together and
both wound, up as MGers in C.

Owsley C. Costlow took on a
very extraordinary task con-
cerning his making sure, what
went on the wording of all our
Unit Markers and he had not
found a record through the War
Department on our 82nd Meri-
torious Service Award, so I sent
him a copy to inform him to
bring our wording about this
past year. For those, in the 12th
Armored Div. that have never
seen or read our 82nd Award
before, this is how our award
reads:

XXI AWARD OF THE
MERITORIOUS UNIT PLA-
QUE. By direction of the Pres-
ident, under the provisions of
the War Department circular
