ANOTHER
HELLCAT
HONORED BY
GOVERNOR OF
KENTUCKY
It is with a great deal of
pride that we announce the ap-
pointment of John V. Clarke
(HQ/56) to a Kentucky Colonel.
This honor was accorded our
association president by the
'Governor of Kentucky and
John is deeply moved by the
honor bestowed upon him and
the association.
He writes as follows: — "I
am sure it will please the mem-
bership to know we are so
highly thought of in Kentucky
as to warrant the honor the
Governor has bestowed upon
the association. I feel that this
honor belongs to the associa-
tion and that we we were singl-
ed out as individuals only be-
cause of our membership in
such a fine organization.' '

land with us just bring it along

DOOR PRIZES
NEEDED FOR
CLEVELAND
REUNION
Once again we are appealing
to the generosity of our mem-
bership to donate some door
prizes to be given away to
lucky ticket holders at our 19th
Annual Reunion in Cleveland,
Ohio. It is a wonderful oppor-
tunity ifor a member who en-
joys the association to show
bis appreciation by contribut-
ing a door prize to the asso-
ciation. In return, appreciation
of this generous gesture will
come from not only the lucky
recipient but from the reunion
committee and the officers and
members of the association as
well.
Doer prizes are an exciting
and pleasurable highlight of
our business meetings and are
looked forward to by attend-
ing members. It is not the size
or costliness of the prize that
counts but rather the excite-
ment and anticipation of per-
haps being a lucky ticket
holder.
If you feel that you would
like to do something "just a
little bit extra" for the associa-
tion and won't be attending the
reunion yourself send your door
prize donation to Cleveland re-
union chairman Jack Miller of
4855 Beachwood Drive, Sheffield
Lake, Ohio or to the secretary
FOR THE 119TH
ENGINEERS
Stopped in to see the Editor
of Hellcat News and his good
wife Janet the other night.
They were busily putting togeth-
er another copy of the offical
organ of the 12th A.D. but they
took time out to chat aJbout
the long history of the fine or-
ganization that we are fortun-
ate to belong to. Makes one
stop to ponder. The Mlintz fam-
ily has certainly contributed
much towards making the as-
sociation an active, healthy
group these many years. Seems
like we might help the cause
by each of us dropping them
a note a couple of times a
year. It wouldn't take long to
let them know how John is
doing in basketball,what Mary
is tooting in the local band or
how many pups Lassie is nurs-
ing. PUPS for sale? Run an ad
in the Hellcat News-results
guaranteed.
Then too, some of you must
surely run into an army buddy
or someone interested in old
12th A.D.—Jot it down—we're
all interested. Be sure to ac-
quaint your friend with the
knowledge that an association
exists and talk him into join
ing up —only $3.00 and his
current address will put him in
good standing for a whole year.
Start talking up Cleveland!
Bea and I plan to be there and
we'll bring the three young
ones along if we can get them
all together the right week-end.
We'd like nothing better than
to swap yarns with all you
engineers.
In case you haven't noticed,
I'm trying to get a recruiting
drive going in the 119th. You
don't have to sign up for three
years this time — just one year
at $3.00. Let our MOTTO be
"Each one get one". We'll double
our membership overnight.
Happy New Year To You All.

REPORT FROM
23RD TK BN
UNIT REP
I wrote this report on the
anniversary of one of the worst
disasters this country ever fac-
ed. It was the bombing of Pearl
Harbor on Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941.
My thoughts went back to that
day and I said a prayer for
those who answered a final
roll call. I just wonder how
many of you fellows recall what
you were doing on that fateful
day and what your reactions
were. I hope all you fellows
took a minute to say a prayer
for those who lost their lives
and to thank God for the free-
doms we enjoy.
Last month I heard from
Paul Lozden whose present ad-
dress is 241/z So. Grape St.,
Medford, Oregon (Room 4). I
had sent him a note on his
dues and he answered my card.
At the present time he is do-
ing a lot of travelling up and
down the west coast and is
employed in heavy construc-
tion. He writes that he has met
several 23rd men in his travels.
I havn't from any of the oth-
er f ellows I dropped cards to but
hope that more of our fellows
have sent in their dues. It be-
comes embarrassing to keep on
urging someone to pay his dues
without any results to show for
the effort. Those fellows don't
have to drop anyone a line if
they don't want to. I don't write
anyone because I am lonely. I
write because I want to see
the boys stay together for as
long as possible. We always had
a good time together back in
the old days and) this association
offers us the opportunity to
continue this comradeship.
Many of us are so wrapped up
in our own little worlds today
that perhaps old friendships
just don't mean much any-
more. It's too bad when we
can't allow ourselves the pleas-
ure of a little sentimental
gesture until it is too late.
Here's hoping for a better year.
If you have no news, we'll for-
give you. Just send in your
dues.

JANUARY REPORT
OF UNIT REP
714TH
Well the Christmas holida
is over and today as I writ
this report another year is be
ginning. In Illinois, especial!
in the Aurora area, it has bee]
raining all day and it resem
bles a rainy day in sprin:
rather than the month of Janu
ary. However I guess we can b
thankful that we do not hav
a foot or two of snow on th
ground. That can be miser
able too.
I want to thank all the won
derful people for their fiin
and thoughtful Christma
cards. They were all beautifu
and the verses really had th
most wonderful words in them
I am looking forward to s
telephone call from Mrs. Orlens
Blair who is planning to visi
her daughter near Park Forest
111. If she does I hope that w<
will be be able to get togethe:
for a little visit. I am sure tha
we will if she makes the trip
She sure wrote a wonderfu
message in her Christmas car:
and after reading the front pag<
of the December issue of th<
HCN I think that the edito:
should be congratulated foi
giving Mrs. Blair such a fin<
spot for her little message. H
really was very well said.
This will be the shortest re-
port I have submitted since
becoming unit rep. Believe ii
when I tell you that a felloe
can run out of things to write
about. Let me hear from yoi
fellows as to how you are do-
ing. It only takes a sheet oi
paper, an envelope, a five cen1
stamp and a little time. It wil]
at least make me feel that mj
efforts are worth while.
I do hope that in 1965 we
all put forth a lot of effort tc
find some of the old members
of the 12th. I know from all
the letters I sent out in Illinois
alone, I did not have too many
returned to me. That indicates
that many of these fellows are
still around and perhaps need
just a little extra attention tc
induce them to join our little
group.
See you again next month in
the Hellcat News.
