in Div. Hq at Camp Barkley is at
home recovering from a heart
attack several weeks ago. Jim is
in the Frederick County School
system and a popular sports re-
feree. Bill writes from Myers-
ville, Md.
Another old barracks buddy,
Art Gaddis (Div Hq) comes
through with dues and note from
California way. He tells the old
Division Service Company com-
plement that our first former
First Sergeant, Paul Burkitt,
lives at 1910 Broadway, Logans-
port, Indiana 46947. I remember
Sgt. Burkitt. He left the company
to go to Field Artillery OCS not
too long after we all joined the
Division Service Company. If
memory serves me right, I be-
lieve he was replaced by a Sgt.
Foster. We all wish you a speedy
recovery, Art. Arts' address is
2065 Richard Way, Ceres, CA
95307 and if any one is nearby
and wishes to call Art, he has in-
cluded his telephone number
(209) 537-7754.
Dues from Chris Lambert (Div
Hq/CCA) from Romulus, Mich,
and news of himself that he visit-
ed Greece, the land of his roots,
from May 31 to July 29, 1978. It
was a terrific trip. He went to
many points of interest. Because
he could speak Greek was a great
help on his first trip there. He
hopes to go there again.
Julius Bernstein comes through
with a post card sent from Jer-
usalem while still travelling
Europe and Asia. He starts with
— Shalom Y'All!! The card,
dated Aug. 30, had him visiting
the center of civilization and tak-
ing in the sites. He left on Sept.
20th for Italy, Holland then cross-
ed the channel to England to visit
friends there before leaving for
the U.S. from London on Sept.
28th. He sends Best Wishes to All.
I also received "Bernie's" dues
notice via George Moss. He in-
cludes a booster and reiterates
his itinerary as mentioned here-
tofore. He concludes. Am winding
up a 16 week vacation. While
I've been out of the country so
long, guess I'll have to wait until
I receive the September edition
of the Hellcat News to learn the
site of the 1979 reunion.
Membership renewals via dues,
an assortment of boosters but no
news from Brig. Gen. Willard
Holbrook, Jr. USA, Ret., Allen
Hansen, James Thomas, Harry
Ford and J. W. Schoen (Div Hq);

glas Craig and Wilbur Claus (Div

Ifs Great To Be a Hellcat
The 33rd Annual Reunion is be-
ing chaired by an Assoc. Vet-
eran of all phases. He is a Past
President, A Unit Rep., A Past
Reunion Chairman, and has been
a member of the Executive
Council since 1972. He has a
Committee that comprises a cross
section of the Division. He has
picked a terrific location for an
enjoyable week, Louisville, Ken-
tucky, home of the George S. Pat-
ton Museum. The Chairman is
Warren Maue, A/17.
If memory serves me right
Fort Knox was also the location
of the Armored Schools used so
liberally by so many of the Arm-
ored Service personnel. Wasn't
it Nuts and Bolts Prep, Breech
and Block University, Biscuits
and Buns for Chef College. Any-
way, we got A-l cooks, gunners
and mechanics from that source.
Many of our Men will 'recall'
while walking the downtown
streets of Derbytown, USA, and
another museum for the Cavalry
(also mechanized).
In crossing the ornery Ohio by
ferry, during furloughs and 3 day
passes, it was often mentioned
to ride a stern wheeler. That Ohio
River opportunity is now at hand,
come July 19 - 21, 1979, because
we will 'port' for" the Louisville
Belle. Recall — misty eyed Misty
from Memory Lane. You like —
I like — we like. The strains of
a banjo or a uke seem to waft
through my window with the
sound of a jet pursuing the
heavens. The best of all Worlds
are yours and mine. Enjoy the
chug of a city, the peace of a
great River, the magnitude of a
Museum, the camaraderie of our
WW II generation. Call it the
apex.
See you there. Make your re-
servation early as the Hotel only
has 700 rooms. The GALT HOUSE
HOTEL WHERE Interstates 64
and 65 and 71 parallel. Mine eyes
have seen the Glory. And the
caissons keep rolling along.
