THE HELLCAT NEWS
December 1966
82nd Medics Report MEET YOUR VEEP 152nd Sig. Reports
Not too muck news to report,
but then I can only report what
you write me about . . . and I
could uae a few more letter* each
month.
The one letter I received was
from Allen Horowitz and that
contained the sad news that All-
en's Mother had passed away. Rita
and 1 and our entire battalion
extend the deepest sympathy to
Allen in his loss. He has also
moved so here is his new address
for your address book: Rte. No. 2
- Box 26, East Hampton, Conn.
06424.
We had a good turnout in Chic-
ago, and only a handful of our
boys haven't sent in their dues for
the '66 to *67 period and we even
picked up a few old members
that had let their membership
lapse. Just a little effort by each
one of us in getting some old
buddy that's not a member into
the fold and our 82nd could be
up with the leaders where it be-
longs.
Sure was pleased to see Bill
Carroll back as an active mem-
ber. Hope he's planning on being
in Detroit in '67.
Here at home, Rita keeps me
humping. The way she gives orders
1 suspect her grandfather was a
sergeant. Do you know she ex-
pects me to do women's work such
as fix the furnace, repair the
washer, and even shovel the snow.
Will close for now ... I have to
do the dishes.

I "See You In Detroit9
!
Your 3rd vice president Ken
(THE HAT) Warnes (Sv./7l4th)
is in charge of future reunion
sites. If you desire to take an act-
ive part in bringing a 12th Arm-
ored Division reunion to your
city write him: R. D. No. 1 - Box
86, Aurora, 111. 60504.
"The Hat" has always been an
active member of the Association,
and a charter member of the
Illinois Chapter. He has been unit
representative for the 714th and
his limitless energies have build
his units membership to one of
the leaders.
On being drafted in 1941, he
was assigned to the 4th Armored
Div. While stationed with the 4th
at Pine Camp, N.Y. he married
Inez in 1942. Several days later
he was assigned as cadre for the
12th at Camp Campbell (Now
Fort Campbell), Ky. Their son
Ken Jr. was born in Clarksville,
Tenn., on July 16, 1943. Original-
ly assigned to the 44th Tank Bn.
he was reassigned to Ser. Co.
714th when the 44th left for the
Pacific Theatre. Ken received his
"happy papers" on Oct. 20, 1945.
He is now with the Chicago,
Burlington and Quincy Railroad
and has been for 22 years. Young
Ken Jr. is a corporal with the
Marine Corp. just returning from
a year and a half in Vietnam.

Finally recovering from being
mashed by a truck two weeks be-
fore the reunion. Still going to
the doctor, but I think I'll make
it. Lying in a bed sure gives one
food for thought. Never quite
realized how much I enjoyed the
HELLCAT NEWS before, but a
little forced sack time by the
doctor brought this fact to light.
The most important thing in read-
ing about the fellows you knew is
how your memory travels back
over the years. The guys in the
company, humorous incidents and
even some of the bad moments. It
makes one wonder if he isn't
passing up the good things in life,
in the eternal quest for success
and the dollar.
Reading about the reunion and
that get-to-gether in the Mintz
penthouse in Chicago was really
enjoyable . . . nearly like being
there. Then Elane Cure poured a
little more salt on the wound by
writing in detail about the fun
the gang had.
It sure is gratifying to see the
way the 152nd's dues are coming
in. This, in spite of my laxness as
[Season's Greetings!
FROM
Lambert, Elsie and
[daughter Wilma Marys
your unit representative shows
what kind of a company we had.
You may have noticed our com-
pany has more members than
many of the battalion units.
Now if you fellows will write me
every so often, I'll get on the stick
and get my message center work-
ing.
