ALSO - TAKE NOTICE. Now
;s the time to get your write-up
in for the 12th Armored Divi-
sion History Book Volume 11.
NOW IS THE TIME. Norb
Bruemmer has asked if I will
continue as Unit Rep of the
Engineers. I said yes unless you
guys throw me out of this
premier job.
One way to stop trying to
remember if you've sent in your
dues yearly is to become a Life-
time Member - only $100. You
get Lifetime Card and no more
requests to pay dues. The total
association membership is al-
most holding it's own, but we
have to start combing the hin-
terlands for members that don't
know about us. We're getting
older and it will not be many
years before we start to drop
like flies. I'm figuring on living
to at least 100 - but the good
Lord may have other ideas.
•Haven't talked to him/her
lately.
Send in your pictures. If they
are dark or light they may not
work, but ye olde Editor will
not put them in if they can't be
seen.
Promise, I'll get your already
published pics in the mail soon.
I don't know how we ever had
time to work 40 to 80 hours a
week, can't get everything done
now that I have all the time in
the world. Could it be that I'm
getting slower with advancing
age? Not a chance
SEE YOU IN
SAN ANTONIO - for sure.

Many are taking advantage
of paying 1990 dues with their
Reunion registrations, includ-
ing: Henry J. Kastrup (A),
Worth A. Stewart (C), John M.
McAfoos (B), Jack Sturman (B),
Morris J. Fortin (B), William
G. Carmody (B), Glenn Widmer
(A), Edwin N. Long (Hq), Vin-
cent A. Amato (A), and Herbert
G. Senecal (B). Duane E. Taylor
(C) confessed to being tardy,
and sent dues for 1989 and 1990
and a Booster contribution, so
all is forgiven and thank him
for his comments about my
efforts as Unit Rep.
Please note change of address
column for Mrs. Barney (Marie)
Galloway S/A (she never for-
gets to change seasonal
changes) and Walter S. Thomp-
son (A).
Phone call from Morris Fortin
July 14 advising that Loretta
Hains, wife of Harold Hains,
was seriously ill. They both
enjoyed the Louisville Reunion
very much even though Loretta
was in a wheelchair then. Wrote
to them and conveyed prayers
and best regards from all of
you, but they would appreciate
individual notes also. Their
address is not in the Roster but
is 206 Kari Drive, Riverview,
FL 33569. He is a B Co. newer
member.
Franklin W. Kennedy (B)
hopes to see everyone in San
Antonio and are headed for
Cleveland, OH in July for a
short visit to his old home
town. He also boosted my moral
with his gracious comments
concerning the past 7 years as
Unit Rep.
Jack Sturman (B) writes that
"it looks like I'll be able to
make SA and look forward to
seeing everyone there." He also
is generous with praise heaped
upon this poor old head.
Hugh Silsby (A) and Mary
have been "settled in our
country home 1 month now.
Hope our garage sale 'junk' will
become someone else's treasure.
Making a ramp to the shed to
store the lawn mower and all
that important stuff is keeping
me busy now. Roy and Emily
Davis visited recently and are
busy getting prepared to leave
on their extended trip to Cal-
gary and through the north-
west, traveling with the Put-
mans and it sounds exciting.
We are looking forward to San
Antonio." Thanks for the spec-
ial praises, and this head of
mine is starting to swell. Hope
it doesn't prove my downfall.
I've got a couple of issues yet
to go.

straight at the North Cen-
tral reunion. Photo from

Edwin N. Long (Hq) and wife
Bid, write: "Received Conven-
tion program and tickets so Bid
instructed me to write with our
134th Banquet check. Well,
letter writing was never my
strong point since the telephone
and copy machines became so
popular. Over the years I have
written hundreds of business
letters but now I can't even
stay on the lines.
"We have both been fine,
enjoyed a very hot and dry
winter in Florida, now going
into our rainy season. STILL
HOT. We are not planning
much this summer but the trip
to San Antonio (other than the
dentist, eye doctor, medical
doctor and swimming pool).
June 20th we counted our 48th
Wedding Anniversary with a
nice quiet dinner for 2 at our
favorite Chinese Restaurant.
We enjoy eating out but the por-
tions don't have to be so large."
More kind words and I am
almost overwhelmed.
Albert H. Gaynes (C) wrote a
great letter with his check
toward the Hospitality Room.
"I will not be able to attend but
would like to see it be a reality.
I plead guilty, with regrets, to
the comments made by some-
one writing in that the Officers
have not been attending con-
ventions, etc. I have a very
warm feeling about the people
of C Company and appreciate
your work as Unit Rep. My
participation in C Company -
the education, the activities,
and above all the camaraderie
were a signicant part of what
was to be my life thereafter.
"I have read with sadness of
the death of some very good
men, all of whom I respected
and admired greatly. The
latest, George Sanger, was
especially painful to me. He
always treated me with respect
- which I appreciated.
"I have not written about my-
self over the years - or even
now. I am well, still living with
my first and only wife, Debbie.
Two great daughters and 2
grandchildren. You see in TV
interviews people being asked
if they had to live life over
again - I would not change a
thing!
"Please give my regards and
affection to all the guys - too
many to name. They'll know
which ones were special. Many
thanks for your dedication. Sin-
cerely, /s/ Albert Gaynes" I
know the men of C Company
will be happy to have heard
such kind words from one of
our Officers and we hope he'll
write again.
Mike Gorman (C) writes: "We
have finally got the grass down
where it looks halfway decent.
This rain has really been some-
thing. Our corn didn't get plant-
ed until May 30th, about a
month late. Plan to plant soy-
beans in place of the rest of the
corn, but isn't half done and
rained out again. It will soon
be too late to plant. Health
reasonably good." Don't like
the word reasonably, Mike, but
San Antonio will cure all our
ills to last until Charlotte in
1990. Lots of us would like your
extra rain!
Mike has been extremely
helpful in getting ready for San
Antonio along with "The
Group". I really appreciate all
your efforts on behalf of the
134th, and I know the 134th
Banquet will be successful be-
cause of your assistance, Mike.
Nice note from Carl T. Moore
(A) who express sympathy to
the wife of Jesse Zook, (Lula)
and commented about Jesse
having over 40 years with IH
and offering his help to her if
she needed assistance for any
reason in getting his pension
she is entitled to. Carl worked
over 45 years for IH and a
Director of the UAW for 25
years, so he knows the ropes.
He also wrote: "I was sorry to
hear that Duke Johnson is not
