FREDERICK DANHKE, 23rd Tank Bn. died
December 25, 1979, as a result of cancer.
Reported by Forrest Smith, 2nd V.P. and former
23rd Unit Rep., who was informed by Mr.
Danhke's two sisters, one of whom is Mrs.
Frances Pursell. [Not 12th ADA member.]
PAUL FRANKE, Hq/714th, suffered a heart
attack which caused his death last March.
Reported by Ken Fisher Hq/714th, who had kept
in touch with Paul and his wife Phyllis through-
out the years. Paul was not a member of the 12th
ADA.
JOE HOOK, Hq/714th, died July 9, 1982 at
age 60. He had remained in the service, retiring
after 21 years as M/Sgt. He was buried at the
Fort Bliss Military Cemetary with full military
honors. Assisting as pallbearers were Valent
Tarajcak, CI23rd and Al Wright, Hq/714th.
Services were at Trinity Lutheran Church in El
Paso, TX. He leaves his wife Lottie, one son,
three daughters, and six grandchildren. [Report-

EBER LANSBACH, B/43rd, passed away
June 21, 1982 at Land O' Lakes, Wl. In addition
to his wife Mary Ellen, he leaves seven children.
Reported by Sam J. Dwyer B/43rd.
FRANCIS G. CHANDLER B/66th passed
away June 7, 1982 at the V. A. Hospital in
Louisville, KY of cancer. He is survived by his
wife Edith, five daughters, two sons, two step-
daughters, and a step-son. Reported by Floyd
Berry, 1st Sgt. of B/66th.
WILLIAM M. ASHBURY, A/66th passed
away April 20, 1982. Bill had a stroke and passed
away on arrival at the hospital. He is survived by
his wife Effie May. Details do not list other
survivors. Mrs. Ashbury informed Harold Durst
A/17th. [Bill was not a 12th ADA member.]
LEO P. KING, Hq/494th, of Miamisburg,
OH, passed away July 22nd, 1982 at age 69 at
Sycamore Medical Center. He is survived by his
wife, Doris; a son Ralph King of Miamisburg, 2
step-daughters, Mrs. Patricia Jenkins and Mrs.
Shirley Lindsey, both of Dayton; 2 brothers,
Russell of Lynchburg, OH and Harold of
Midland, OH; 2 sisters, Mrs. Vivian Acord of
Tipp City; Mrs. Helen Gillis of Miamisburg; 3
grandchildren and numerous nieces and
nephews. Funeral was conducted from the
Unglesby Funeral Home, Franklin, OH with
entombment in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

spects were Warren and Edna Maue, A/17; John
and June Bramlett, Hq/714th; and Grant Trappe,
B/119th.

JOHN G. GATCHELL, formerly a member of
134th Armd. Ord. Bn., reported as deceased a
couple of years ago by W. Cain, RR 2, Box 181,
Georgetown, PA 15043. He learned of this death
from John's daughter, who had moved into his
neighborhood. [Not 12th ADA member.]
WARREN TRACY, B/ 119th, passed away
June 4th, 1982 at age 57. Burial was in Camp
Butler National Cemetary, Springfield, IL, his
hometown. Surviving in addition to his Wife
Ruth, are two sons and one daughter. Reported
by George G. Moss, A/714th.
GEORGE R. ROGERS, Sv/44th, passed
away in March, 1982. Reported to Dave Scobie by
a former member of Sv. Co., Joe Reuthinger, of
Spokans, WA. George had moved to Moscow, ID
to be with his daughter, from Goldsboro, NC.
While there, he and Joe visited with each other
until George's death.
JOSEPH PUMILLO, of Mattituck, NY, died
April 19, 1982 after a long illness at the Mather
Memorial Hospital, Port Jefferson, NY. He was
born March 24, 1922. Surviving are his wife
Marion Pundt Pumillo; three sons, Jody, Tim-
othy and Harry; two brothers and two sisters, in
addition to three grandchildren. Joe never joined
the 12th ADA. He was originally assigned to the
old Div. Sv. Co. When the T/O change was made,
and the company was eliminated, he went to the
82nd Med. Bn. After discharge, he opened the
Italian Apple Tree Restaurant in Mattituck, NY.
WILLIAM S. MAGGIO, C/92nd died July 1st,
1982 at North port VA Hospital, NY of a brain
tumor. Bill was admitted to Northport on May
17th with adenocarcinoma. During six weeks it
spread rapidly thru lungs, throat, chest, and
finally ended with the brain tumor. Bill had
worked for the Grumman Aerospace Corp. for the
last 14 years and was fondly known as "The King
of Grumman". Bill and Edna were married in
Brooklyn, NY over 40 years ago. The funeral was
on July 5th with burial at the Calverton National
Cemetary. Surviving in addition to his wife Edna,
are daughter Maureen and grandchildren Darlene,
John, and Brian. [Bill's oldest daughter Elizabeth
died of cancer last August.] Edna may be

We, of the 12th Armored Division Association,
express our deepest sympathy to the families of
these departed comrades. They will always be
remembered as a part of our lives so many, many
years ago, and they have gone to their reward
after a life of giving and sharing with their fellow
comrades.
