FAIRVIEW Community NEWS
There was a good crowd at<^>
church and Sunday school.' There
was 52 present and Bro. Brooks
preached at the morning ser-
vice. There was a larger crowd
for church.
Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Wescott
and family came to church Sun-
day morning. Mr. and Mrs. C. T.
Wescott and family are now liv-
ing in Missouri, but are all old
timers of Fairview. We welcome
them back to Fairview.
Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Pattie
spent Monday after noon with
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hughes and
Miss Leon. This was such a nice
atfernoon, all together.
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Wescott
and family went to church Sun-
day morning.
Mrs. O. H. Martin was in town
Saturday a while.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Houston of
the Brunson Ranch have them a
new pickup. It has rained so
much they got this new pickup
stuck. Better luck next time.
Hurshell Ray was at home
this week when three of his
school friends, Strickland, Tom-
as, and Autis Wade came to see
him. These boys had a lot of
good sport together.
Sallie and Wilbert and boys
spent the day Sunday with her
father and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
L. H. Hughes and went to church
and Sunday school together.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Hughes
went to see Mr. and Mrs. James
Garland and played 42 until bed
time.
Mr. and Mrs. Hughes Bice
from Hobbs, New Mexico, visit-
ed Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hughes
and Miss Leon Hughes a whole
Sunday night.
Mr. and Mrs, Robert Hughes
and Miss Loon stayed at home
all day Sunday.

Andrews Youth Drowns
In Lake Near Andrews
An eight-year-old boy drowned
late yesterday afternoon while
swimming with playmates in the
old lake in northwest Andrews.
Wayne Jenkins, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Jenkins, failed
to respond to artificial respira-
tion and an emergency operation
after being hauled from the lake
by his father.

$42,600 For Erosion
Bailey County, one of 75 Tex.-
as counties included in the emer-
gency program has been alloted
$42,600 for use in controlling
wind erosion.

In Winkler County Drilling
Three new producers and two
deepening projects were an-
nounced this week in Winkler
County.
Two of the new oilers are in
the Hendrick field and the other
la in the Halley area. The Em-
perlor Deep field gained one of
the deepening operations while
the other was slated for the Ker-
mlt pool.

First Water Loan Aids
Small Farmer
A small farm operator near
Loraine this week aobtalned ap-
proval for Mitchell County's
first Farmers Home Administra-
tion loan for irrigation water fa-
cilities.
He Is Santiago R. Galvan, who
with Mrs. Galvan farms 100
acres two miles west of Loraine,
and provides for six children at
home.

' Rainfall again came to Morton
and the farm area surrounding
Monday night of this week add-
ing up to 2 inches of moisture In
one area but again failing to de-
posit much water at Oasis, Good-
land, Baileyboro and other north-
west and west sectors badly in
need of planting moisture.

Have Recreation Program
For the first time in history,
Crosbyton will have a Summer
Youth Recreation Program, un-
der the supervision of the Cros-
byton Schools, Supt. Fred Cun-
ningham announced this week.
