The Seine . . .
By MELVENA TANNER
The Sharks really ran up a nice
score Friday night for the Home-
coming Game. The Queen and Prin-
cesses with their escorts sure made
a pretty picture. Don't you agree?
This weekend was a very busy
one for quite a few people. Jimmy
S. wants to know what everyone
thinks of that "thing" called Sharon
with which he spent most of his
time with over the weekend. I can
answer for many people: "Wow"!
It looks as though Dolan and
Allen had quite a time, too. Dolan
seems to have "lost" his ring. He
said if anyone was going to Hous-
ton, to please let him know. He
would like to go and see the "find-
er" of his ring. I imagine Allen
wouldn't mind a ride up there
either.
I wonder who L. O.'s new heart-
throb will be. Who knows?
Friday night one of our band
students had something in her eye
and her eyes just kept watering
up. She finally got her eyes all
cleared up when she saw a little
ole ring on a chain again.
I hear that Larry G. played
chauffeur Saturday night. I won-
der what time he took his pas-
sengers home. Could it have been
one o'clock or so? Ask Gene or
Yvonne; they ought to know!
Oh, I almost forgot. A certain
boy's little sister notified me that
her brother was mad at me be-
cause I never put his name in
print. So here it is: Homer Brown!
Women of Colleqeport
Presbyterian Church
Hold Monthly Meeting
Mrs. John Merck, Jr. was hostesa
to the Presbyterian Women of the
Church of Collegeport, Thursday.
November 8th, for their regularly
scheduled monthly meeting.
The moderator, Mrs. Fred Law.
led a lively and animated discus-
sion of the "Temptation of Jesus
in the Wilderness," as recorded by
Matthew. It was brought out that
the tests to which .Tesns was sub-
jected closely parallel those of
the present day Christian.
Preceding the business meeting*
a program was given emphasizing
the urgent need for the women of
the church to consider together the
money affairs of the family in
order to be able to approach prac-
tically and realistically the money
affairs of the whole church family.
Highlighting the activities of the
afternoon, was a surprise shower
by the assembled guests of "gifts
to the house" of the hostess, Mrs.
Merck, who has recently moved
into her new home. Fronting Tres
Palacios Bay, the John Merck, Jr.
home is set in the midst of acres
of rolling land, which slopes gent-
ly to the water's edge. Contem-
porary in feeling it is spacious, and
designed for modern living. This
home is one of the several new
homes, which has risen, Phoenix-
like, from the havoc and fury of
Carla, and of which Collegeport is
so justly proud.
Coffee and pie were served dur-
ing refreshment hour, from a table
graced by an exquisite covering of
cluny lace. A family heirloom,
woven many years ago by convent
nuns, into an intricate design of
lacey blossoms and butterflies.
The Christmas meeting will be
held the second Thursday in De-
cember, ft thn Cockburn ranch
horn.;.
As-' Mrg the hostess were Mrs.
Johr ''.?r k, Sr. and Mrs. Gerald
Wells.
