It is now a little over a week
since the B. Y. P. U. Encamp-
ment came to close, and it is a
little over three weeks until the
close of school. Those of us who
have, up till now, not taken ad-
vantage of the many opportu-
nities which surroundjis in our
daily life, forget it, for it is noth-
ing now but past history. Only
1 make a resolution to turn over a
new leaf, and resolve to take ad-
vantage of every moment to
study, for it is not yet too late to
start in with new cntnUsiasm.
Support Palomar in ali its activ-
ities, and redeem yourself for"
.any negligence along these lines
in the past. Particularly those
who intend to graduate this sum-
mer; it means the saving of a
whole year of school life. .
Let's all join in and make this
the most successful year Camp
Palomar has ever had!
Those who have indulged in
water sports all during the sum-
mer, now have the opportunity
of disclosing their skill to the
public. On Saturday. July 29th,
Camp Palomar wili hold a Reget-
ta. Although later events may
necessitate a change in the time,
Saturday is at present the select-
ed day.
As several good swimmers are
members of the camp, the con-
test promises to be interesting.
Even now, those who have not
taken seriously to swimming as
yet, there are still a few days
which may be Used to great ad-
vantage.
Our Trip to Portsmouth
On the Good Ship Colonel

Read the ads in the Kamper.
Tom Brown, a former student
of the Academy, is visiting Pal-
omar.
Mrs. Brown, Poochie's mother,
who has been a tamper here, left
Friday for her home in Luling.
Miss Gladys Monroe spent the
week-end in town, and from what
she says, we know that she had
a very wonderful time.
Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Baily,
of San Antonio, who extended
their visit after the encampment,
have returned home. We miss
them from our chapel exercises.
Ralph Ellis, one of the students
of San Marcos Academy arrived
last Sunday and is here to stay
the remaining weeks of school
with us, and although he has a
late start, old Academy students
know what he can do when he
wants to.

I ain't very much versed in poem,
Bui a surprise I thought I'd show 'em,'
And put everyone's name in verse
Who the Colonel's expense did emburse.
As the boat was leaving the pier
All that anyone could hear
Was the noise of the "kids"
As they tightly grasped their lids.
In describing the trip over,
Though it wasn't all clover.
Was enjoyable you will learn
In comparison to the return.
Then Hutch found out the Captain's
name
And his own was exactly the same,
And a few minutes of relations tracin'
Took 'em back to the dawn of creation.
As onward the Colonel sped,
In story telling Dean Abney led;
Now, along that sort o' line,
I'll mention Mims and save time.
Biscuit Carlton of Freeport,
Who's a pretty good sport, '
Was standing in the cabin near the
wheel
Shooting old Duff and Beeler some speel,
Now that the time seems to be good
I'll just, mention about Dale Wood,
Who though not afraid of any sea,
Sure did hang 'round close to me.
Well, when we landed on the beach,
Old Bill Barron madp a dive—'twas a
peach.
Then for bait we started seining there,
At this Bussy and Gilstrap were a pair.
Ralph Ellis, though reserved and polite,
In arguing with Head tried to fight;
And that other one—old Roy Ellis,
Broke our reel and didn't tell us.
i
Then there's Major, he's a joke
Eating watermelon on a boat.
Though he ate it on the upper deck,
He got it all over his ears and neck.
The only inhabitant of Portsmouth
Is 'bout as accommodating as a mouse,
And we'll say the information he gave
Sure won't hasten him to his grave.
