Our friend Sandy, I somehow feel,
Must have been casting for an eel.
Peewee, in an undignified air,
Says, "They jest naturally ain't none
there,"
Sorry De»rman, man alive,
Sure did make a feature dive;
Sandy Gardner in his footsteps followed
And when he came up the gang all hol-
lowed.
i ' ' ■ .)
While out there Mr. Olis Knight
Sure did present a peculiar sight.
Shirtless, shoeless, but at that
He had on a borrowed hat.
Buttermilk Garret is the guy's name
Who attempted fishing without a seine.
But his luck won't stand as a marker,
And this I can prove by Chicko Barker,
On the way home, from fore to aft.
No sound was heard like a laugh;
Then, as things became more serious,
Several, including Sugar, got delirious.
Now this I'll say 'bout Sugar Teague,
Alhough he hopes to make big league,
And while we admit he sure was game,
He lost his watermelon just the same.

There's young Fortney, the little brat
Caught a great big channel cat;
And Edward Beeville, oh, by gee!
Caught a four-pound stingaree.

Maley, Cleveland and Bill Scarborough
All wished they'd stayed in the harbor,
And they made a vow quite plain *
That they would never go again.
Well the trip it ended fine,
And all got back to their dates on time;
And even Garrison had a date
That kept bim with 'em until late.
A MARINE TRAGEDY
By Ralph Fritz
The dusky moon in the sky
Was glaring down on her sides of
green,
As 3he rode the white waves dashing
high,
Rocking and pitching, calm and serene.
All the people were happy and gay,
And Mr. Abney was engaged in song,
As the "Opal B" sailed over the bay,
Never dreaming of fnture wrong.
When the boat had sailed quite away
The sea bottom up and caught her,
Leaving her stalled in the middle of the
bay,
And from her cruel trap she couldn't
stir. *
"We're lost! We're lost!" the captain
cried,
As he sprang to the fo'ard deck;
The fallen mate by hia side
Called faintly, "Please get off my
neck!"
Then the skipper, calm and cool,
Ordered the anchors to be cast right
quick,
And 'twas shown he was no fool,
Although the ship still decided to stick.
But all stories must have an end,
And at last the mud allowed her to
roam,
Again her portward way to wend
To safely land her cargo home.
