R. J. Hill has returned from a visit

The many friends of G. R. Halliday
are delighted to see him able to be out
again, after being confined to his home
for several weeks.
Regular Board meeting of the Pa-
lacios Library Association on Satur-
day, Feb. 1, at the usual hour and
place. All members asked to be pres-
ent.
Mrs. G. II. Smith is assisting at
Theb's Cafe, taking the place of Mrs.
Michna.
Mrs. M. A. Bell and daughter, Miss
Meryle Bell, were week end visitors in
Bay City.
We are pleased to report Mrs. B. E.
Sailor recovering nicely from her re-
cent illness.
Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Palmer went up
to Houston Sunday on a business and
pleasure trip.
Mrs. Elizab. ;h Russell returned Fri-
day from IIo\ ton, after a visit there
of several we.ks.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Pitman, of Vic-
toria, were visiting Palacios relatives
and friends Wednesday and Thurs-
day, combining pleasure with busi-
ness.
Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Haynes, who
have spent the past month here with
their daughter, Mrs. Guy Barnett and
family, left Wednesday for their home
in Grapeland.

Mrs. Ella Fitts returned Sunday
from an extended visit with her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Cowger and family of Sterl-
ing, Kans.
Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Crawford and
Rowland Burton returned Tuesday ev-
ening from a pleasure and business
trip to Chicago.
Mrs. Jim Michna and children left
Mondoy night for Woodsboro to join
Mr. Michna, who has engaged in the
restaurant business in that city.

Mr. and Mrs. M. Brown, who live
on a farm about six miles northwest
of Palacios, received a message last
week, infrming them an oil well had
been brought in on their holdings near
Taylor, Texas, and they left Saturday
for that place.
Mrs. A. S. Richards, of Kilbourn,
Wis., who had been a guest at Hotel
Palacios the past two weeks, enjoying
meeting friends she formed during her
residence here in the early days of
Palacios, left Friday of last week for
Biloxi, Miss., to spend the remainder
of the winter.
We are pleased to report Mrs. J. R.
Elliott, who underwent a serious oper-
ation in Houston on Thursday of last
week, as doing as well as could be ex-
pected, and her friends here trust her
recovery will be rapid. The doctor ac-
companied Mrs. Elliott to Houston
and is still in that city.
Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Boiling, have
moved to their former home on East
Bay, after spending a little over n
year in town, during which time they
conducted a vegetable and fruit ston
in connection with the pork and sau
sage business with which Mr. Boiling
has become famous all over the city.
Tuesday afternoon is the time for
the regular P.-T. A. meeting of Febru
ary. A report from the Membership
Committee will be one of the interest-
ing items as well as reports from all
other committees. Those interested in
the P.-T. A. work would like to see a
good attendance of the parents. Re-
member the time, Tuesday, at 4 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Walton and son,
Jasper, of Ness City, Kans., came in
this weok for a two months' stay or
longer, to look after business and re-
new friendships made during their
stay here some two or three years ago,
during which time they conducted a
restaurant in the Williams' Building
on 5th Street. Palacios gives them
a most cordial welcome.

pound notch upon her arrival at 4
o'clock Wednesday morning, Jan. 29
