Superior Quality and
Low Prices
The foundation on which we "built our
success is Superior Quality Groceries

that a majority of the citizens of Pa-

quality of groceries high. Join the

Roosevelt's advice in politics
■is one of the best things he ever
said and is proved by his success
in whatever he undertook:
"Walk softly, but carry a big
Stick".
Woman will retain their fem-
inine graces, but given the bal-
lot, will surely wield it as a "big
stick" to get the things for 'the

The first recorded Command of
Jehovah was "Let There be

Kingdom the rule of Salon is
described as the place-of "Chaos

• The main reasons for municipal
the polls is not the "voice of the
god's", nor the majority repre-
sentation of the taxes paid. The
women are those who suffer most
from lack of electric light.
"Man's work i3 from sun to sun,
but woman's work is never
done".
Now the safety of the home
against fire is immeasurably in-
creased by electric lights. What
mother is not anxious about fire,
where lamps are used, until the
last child is safely tucked in and
the lamps out? Then the saving
of time and strength in the house
hold tasks, of ironing, washing
ana cleaflteg, were we assured of
current, is inconceivable until
the trial is made.

It is an unfortunate and la-
mentable fact that every church
has members who confound the
teachings of Christ with those of
Satan. They seem to think the
cloak of church membership will
protect"them from the wrath of
Hell, it wont do it. A slander-
er can no more enter the gates of
Heaven than a .murderer. Yet
Palacios, along with uncountable
other places, i3 full of people,
male and female, who while pro-
fessing Christianity, make their'
choice business in life the slander
and defamation of their neigh-
bors, fondly hopi ng to see Heaven,
but who will surely, unquestion-
ably and wnh certainty absolute,
see the Hell God has provided for
their kind. Slander, according to
Tennyson, is the ' 'meanest spawn

A safe plan to follow is, first,
be absolutely sure the thing you
are about to say of your neighbor
is incontrpyertibly true—then
keep your infernal mouth shut.

The City Council is to be com-
mended for the work being done
on the streets and drainage
ditches'. Much good work has
been done on Main and Commerce
streets, in filling in low places
with shell, and opening ditches.
If they will now begin on the
sidewalks, cut the grass, gather
up the paper and refuse on the
streets and beautify the City

benefit to Palacios, from an
economic as well as a hygienic
standpoint. Primarily, it would
promote conditions peitaining to

among people who will never
build in Palacios as long as pres»
ent conditions exist. Do softie*
