Roy Shuman left this week for
Damon where he will make his
home temporarily.
Dr. Neumann of San Antonio
was in the city this week.
Tuesday, December eleventh,
after the business meeting at
2:30 the ladies of the Library
will hold a Christmas package
sale. Sale to begin at 3:30.
Prices for packages ten, fifteen
and twenty-five cents. The public,
especially the school chilren, is
invited. A ten->ent tea will be
served.
Mrs. N. Keller visited her
daughter in Bay City Friday.
Rev. W. L. Shepherd was a
passenger to Houston Friday.
W. O. Lindblum went to Bless-
ing Friday.

Miss Lucy Mitchell left for
Port Arthur Tuesday for an ex-
tended visit to her sister. Miss
Mitchell will be sadly missed in
the Sunday school, where she
was the well loved teacher of
the married ladies' class, one of
the largest and best attended
classes, As Librarian at the
public library her loss is irrepar-
able. All will welcome her re-
turn with rejoicing.
Tuesday Mrs. J. C. Perry and
little daughter, Donna Mae,
went to San Antonio to join Mr.
Perry, who is interested in a
real estate firm. They will
spend the winter there, return-
ing to Palacios in the spring.
Miss Gertrude Truitt went to
San Antono Friday.
Dr. and Mrs. M. V, Elting of
i Utica, Kansas, who spent last
winter in Palacios, buying the
i Fowler place on North Fourth
street before leaving in the
ithe spring, have returned to
their winter residence.
J. H. Nixon and wife, who
spent the past three weeks in
El Campo as guests of their
daughter and family, came home
Sunday.
G. L Crawford went to Hous-
ton Tuesday.
Mrs. M. G. Thurston of Tennes-
see who has been the guest of
Mrs. K. S. Magee for the past
month, left for her home Tues-
day. Mrs. Thurston was also
looking after her farm while here.
D. M. Linch left for Hico Tues-
day to spend a few months visit-
ing his children.
Will Sorrell and family came
in from Wallis Tuesday, and are
the guests of his sister, Mrs. 0.
H. Hart, and other relatives.
J. A. Griffin, who has been
looking after property in East
Texas, came home Tuesday.
The piano, voice and expres-
sion pupils of the Misses Truitt
and Robinson will give a recital
at the High School Auditorium
December fourth, at eight
o'clock. You are invited.
C. J. Moore left Friday to at-
tend to business at Bay City and
Port Lavaca.
Mrs. Roy Cantwell went to San
Antonio Sunday to visit relatives
over Thanksgiving.

came down from Bay City Sun-
day to visit with Palacios re-
latives.
Mr. ann Mrs. C. M. Stroup of
Winslow, Arkansas, were among
Sunday's arrivals who came to
stay.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. O'Neal
went to Houston Eriday where
Mr. O'Meal underwent a minor
operation. Mrs. O'Neal return-
ed Monday.
Mrs. Duncan Ruthven, who
underwent a majoir operation at
the .John Sealy hospital in Gal-
veston, returned home Monday,
Mr. Ruthven having gone toGul-
vesion Saturday to return with
her. Her many friends will be
glau to know that the operation
was successful in every way and
Mrs. Ruthven will soon be re-
stored to perpect health.
Mr. Glenn Miller, who is field
clerk of 33rd divison stationed
near Houston, spent last week
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs-
M. M. Miller, and other relatives.
Glenn is hoping soon to be sent
to France and like the great
majority of the boys is very anx-
ious to go. Glenn will make
good wherever he goes and in
any capacity. His mauy friends
predict a bright future for him.
