To Be Guest Pastor At
Colleqeport Sunday
Thomas Vernon Wert, second-
year student at Austin Presbyter-
ian Theological Seminary in Aus-
tin will be guest pastor at the Col-
Jegeport Presbyterian Church on
Sunday, January 12.
He received his bachelor of
science degree from Sam Houston
State Teachers College in Hunts-
ville, where he gained membership
in two scholastic honor societies.
He also did graduate work at
Miami University and Syracuse
University, and is a member of the
National Education Association.
Mr. Wert is married to the
former Carol Montgomery of Syra-
cuse, New York; they have four
children. He is a member of the
Northminster Presbyterian Church
of North Syracuse.

Attend Get-Toqether
During Holiday Season
The home of Mr. and Mrs. L. V_
Jacob, decorated for the holiday
season, was the scene of a fam-
ily get-together December 28 and
29 when Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Jacob
and all of his children wer« to-
gether during the holiday seasnu.
This was the first time the family
had all been together at this time:

The lad arrived at 1:06 a.m. Jan-
uary 1 and weighed at arrival eight .

Mrs. Ida Dorsey is
Honored With Dinner
Party on 80th Birthday
Mrs. Ida Dorsey was honored re-
cently on her SOth birthday with a
dinner party at the home of her son
and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dorsey
in Edna.
The family presented her with
an orchid corsage and lovely gifts.
She also received a "birthday card
! shower" from relatives and friends
in several states.
The table held a lovely center-
piece of red roses encircling a ce-
ramic December angel flanked by
red tapers in crystal holders. The
birthday cake, decorated with
sugar-spun roses, was inscribed
"Happy Birthday Mother 80th".
Those attending the dinner were
her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Dorsey of Freeport; her
daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Legg and Miss Cathy Legg of
Angleton and Mrs. Erich Johs, Jr.
of Bay City and Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Dorsey and their family, Mr. and
Mrs. H. C. Wehmcyctr, Jr. and Mr.
and Mrs. Carlton Dorsey of Port
Lavaca.
The following Sunday, flowers
were placed in the First Methodist
Church of Palacios by her children
to honor Mrs. Dorsey on her birth-
day. Those attending the service
with Mrs. Dorsey were Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Dorsey.
E. E. Eggleston has returned
from Jackson, Miss, where he went
to visit his daughter and son-in-law,
JVIr. and Mrs. L. L. LuXsa. Mr.
Luksa, an oil field worker, was
severely burned when the shed the
men used for changing clothes ex-
ploded while he was inside. He
was rushed to a hospital in Jack-
son where for several days he was
on the critical list. He is now im-
proving but will continue to bi
the hospital for several weeks.
