Albany Chest still needs $1,126
The Albany Chest fund-raising
drive was nearing the $14,000
mark this week, leaving slightly
over $1,100 needed to reach the
$15,000 goal for 1991.
As of Monday, December 23 the
fund balance haa reached $13,873,
a gain of $1,475 over the past week.
"We finally feel like we will make
our goal now," said Albany Chest
director Lorene McComas, "but we
still need a few more contributions
in order to distribute the full
amount to all the organisations
who requested funding."
The Albany Chest is helping
fund 14 local youth and civic or-
ganizations through the money
being raised. If the goal is reached
by December 31, the funds will be
distributed in early January.
"We know it is hard at Christmas
to collect money, but we need to
close out the drive by the ent^of the
year," McComas continued.
She added that one large con-
tribution was received last week,
but "there are still two or three we
were counting on that never came
through.
"It looks like we won't be getting
these this year, and we really need
several smaller amounts to make
up the difference."
Chest officials had been con-
cerned earlier in the drive due to
slow receipts. However, the drive
has been boosted the past three
weeks to come nearer the record
goal.
