Results of the prizes
and recognition of Shack-
elford County youngsters
at the West Texas Fair
September 12-25 were en-
couraging.
Susan Hill got a calf in
the scramble and won a
$100 gift certificate to go
toward the purchase of a
gilt Dewayne Singletary
and Joe Whaley entered
the calf scramble and got
their calves. Kevin Hill
entered, but was unsuc

Hilly Cilbreath won se
cond place in the Open
Junior Heifer Show with
a black Chianina, as well
as second place with an
American Chianina in the
same show. WS Cattle
' ornpany (Louis Schkade
and Brad Whitaker) was
the breeder.
In junior heifers,
Dudley Raymond came in
first, also first with a
senior heifer and fifth in
the senior heifer show.
Jay Freeman won first
in the junior heifer show,
first in the senior heifer
show, and 10th in the
senior open show.
Cindy Freeman got
third in the junior heifer
class, first in senior heifer
class, and 10th in the
senior open class.
Russell Moore ex
hibited a barrow in the
lightweight Hampshire
class and got fourth. He
also placed fifth with a
heavyweight Poland
China barrow.
Rocky Moore was first
with a heavyweight
Crossbred barrow, and
exhibited the Champion
cross.
Shannon Wilkins was
ninth with a heavyweight
Cross barrow.
Scott Fanning won
third place with a scram
ble gilt.
Band boosters plan year
The Albany Band
Boosters met September
19 to make plans to pro
vide drinks at the football
games for band members
and visiting band
members at home games.
Projects for the year
were planned, including a
"Pancake Bonanza" ten-
tatively set for February.
The stage band and choirs
will perform at that time.
Other plans discussed
were the spring concert
reception, band banquet
and elementary school
end-of the year party.
Band members will also
sell candy bars at the
Sidewalk Fair Saturday.
The club consists of
band parents from fifth
grade through high school.
Anyone interested in join
ing should contact presi
dent Gloria Pittman.
