Worldly Things

"Attend the Church of Your Choice
Keep your deeds of mercy
secret, and your Father
who sees in secret
will repay you.
The New American Bible
Matthew 6:4
Even though we know we can't
keep our worldly things forever,
we all have personal possessions
that we prize and would nevfer
give up on our own accord. And
although we may keep some of
our prized possessions until we
die, as the old saying goes, "you
can't take it with you."
Some people even hate the
thought of dying simply because
they don't want to give up the
material things of this world. The
Bible tells us that our hearts will
always be where our riches are
and that we should store our
riches in heaven, where they can-
not be taken from us.
When accumulating wealth,
many people receive regular re-
ports on the value of what they
have. Perhaps, if God would send
us a quarterly report of what we
are storing in heaven, we may
have more incentive to save our
riches there. But then our motive
would be for the wrong reason,
and we would not get credit for
them.
