"Woodson has a very good team
and they made us look really bad,"
said Coach Paul Johnston. "We
started out well and then became
flat. This was not our best
effort.'Taced with a must-win situ-
ation, the Lady Lions opened the
second round of district with a
victory over Newcastle 17-25, 25-
21, 17-25, 25-15,15-11 during a
local game on Saturday.
Newcastle won the first time
the two teams met in district. With
Saturday's win, Albany and
Newcastle are tied for second
place.
"This was the best we have
played this year," said Johnston.
"We fought really hard and stayed
focused. Every girl gave all she
had to win this game."
The coach also thanked the fans
for their help.
"The fans were key to our get-
ting up for this game. They gave
us the energy we needed and added
a lot of intensity."
The Lady Lions are now 22-9
for the season.
