('hrisl. desus. hike Abraham we
believe (!od, Ilis Word and prom-
ises, and in faith' receive His
blessings.
Faith may be likened to the
• hand of a beggar. The Master-
offers the beggar a gift and the
beggar receives thegift by reach-
ing mil his hand and grasping it.
The be/'i'ar has done nothing to
eai n or deserve thegif'f, but gets
it fo);free, without any work or
effort <iii lii.s pari He need only
open his hand and the Master
places it m his palm.
So with our Christian faith.
We believe < iod and receive the
benefit our a I v at ion and all
which I bat. means faith is' the
way the gift comes to us. Saying
faith involves both knowledge
and trust, includes both head
ami heart With our mind we
comprehend the Word of God
and Willi our heart, we feel that,
trust in it
If we have only "head knowl-
edge," we are no better off than
an educated at heist or even Sa-
tan himself . To know the facts of
(iod and 11 is Word is not, enough.
We must also trust; that, it, is
true.
O11 the Other hand there are
some people in religious cults
who have a lot of trust, usually
in a clever leader, but do not
know the troth of God and Ilis
Word. Their trust is in vain.
, As Christians we, a.s Abra-
ham; believe God and have f aith
in the truth of'His Word, will
and way for us That, belief, our
faith, is what sustains us as
